Built in 2017, this stationary houseboat offers a luxurious stay with all the comforts of home and more. The 'Captain's Quarters' boasts a queen-sized bed on a raised platform, complete with an en-suite shower and ample storage. The 'Crew's Quarters' features two cosy single beds and a built-in wardrobe, with the main bathroom conveniently located opposite. Gerda's interior showcases our curated art collection from Scottish galleries and exotic locales across South Asia, Southeast Asia, and North Africa, adding a touch of global charm to your stay. Stay comfortable year-round with individually controlled radiators throughout and a charming solid fuel burner in the lounge. Your first bag of wood is on us, with an honesty box system for additional fuel. While Gerda is equipped to the highest standards, please note that due to steps, it's not wheelchair accessible. This fixed accommodation offers a one-of-a-kind Glasgow experience, blending urban excitement with the tranquillity of canal living. This hilltop haven offers spectacular city views while maintaining surprising serenity, just a short stroll from the bustling centre. Your floating home base is ideally situated for exploring Glasgow's rich tapestry of culture, art, and nightlife. Within minutes, you can reach world-class museums, galleries, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The popular Ocho Café and Spa sit at the entrance of our gated community, perfect for a morning coffee or relaxing treatment. For the culturally inclined, Scottish Opera, the National Conservatoire, and the National Theatre of Scotland headquarters are all within easy walking distance. Adventure seekers will appreciate the proximity to Pinkston Watersports Centre, while creative minds can explore the independent art space 'The Glue Factory'. Please note: As part of routine maintenance, we occasionally need to move Gerda for a brief period (about an hour) for septic tank service. This typically occurs early morning on a Tuesday or Saturday every few weeks. We'll inform you at check-in if this is scheduled during your stay, and we're happy to work around your plans. Rest assured, Gerda is fully licensed under Scottish Law (License No. GL00126F) for your peace of mind. And for our peace of mind there is a security system protecting the property when not in use by guests. A part of this system are PIR (passive infrared) sensors inside the property as well as alarms on the doors and large windows. They are inactive while there are no guests staying. If you have any concerns regarding these PIR sensors please do ask.
