On an acre of land overlooking the Morattico, the Getaway features an open concept Living Room, Dining Room and Kitchen with water views from every window! A flat screen TV with DVD Player, an assortment of about 50 DVDs, and a PS2 with Arcade Games. Board Games and Jigsaw Puzzles are provided. For outdoor recreation, we also provide Corn Hole and Bocce Ball. Nestle into the King Sized bed with 17" pillow top mattress and plenty of pillows for ultimate comfort. Enjoy peaceful views without ever leaving the bed. A flat screen TV with Amazon Fire Stick, bedside phone charging stations, en suite full bathroom with tub/shower and a walk in closet with a stand for luggage, ensure you have all the creature comforts and plenty of storage space. Linens and towels are provided. Step through sliding glass doors to the 400 sq ft deck with sun lounger, tables, chairs and umbrella. Soak in the sun, listen to the sea birds, and let your worries drift away. If you simply must stay connected, bring your laptop out to the screened in Gazebo where you'll find a table, chairs, and power outlets for a peaceful, outdoor workspace by the water. Public boat launch is right around the corner from the cottage and the 2 mile wide Rappahannock River is only 1500 ft from the boat launch. Bring your water toys and come play! During your stay, moor your toys at my private dock (boat lift not for guest use); you may also fish and crab from the dock. Crab pot provided; just bring bait. ♦️ ♦️ NOTE: Fishing out on the river will require a salt water license. No license required to fish from my dock. For those who love the outdoors, Osprey Getaway is close to several parks and natural areas with hiking trails. For Kayak Rentals, Belle Isle State Park is a short distance away. Guests must understand the trade off for the peace and quiet of our little corner of Paradise is there are no convenience stores around the corner. ♦️ The nearest store for the most basic of basics is the Dollar General about 10 minutes away. ♦️ The nearest gas stations are Thomas Store in Emmerton and BP in Lively each about 12-15 minutes away. ♦️ The nearest town is about 20 minutes away in Warsaw. ♦️ The nearest Walmart is about 23 minutes away in Kilmarnock. Although this is my personal home, I will not be on the premises during your stay. My Personal Areas of the house will be locked and inaccessible to guests and are not advertised as part of this rental. ♦️♦️ OCCUPANCY: Per State Law, occupancy is limited to TWO (2) people of any age, at any time; please don't invite guests or friends to my personal home. My home and grounds are highly unsuitable for children under age 12 including infants and especially toddlers. Due to unfenced, open river access, my insurance Does NOT Permit me to host reservations which include children. Other things to note There are a few things to be aware of before you book. Osprey Getaway is an older river cottage that has been enjoyed and loved for nearly half a century. 40+ years of use gives any home character and charm. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable place to relax and recharge my home will be perfect. If you require sterile flawlessness with boring white walls, white towels and white bed linens, you will not be happy here. SMOKING: Smoking, vaping, dipping, 420 or illegal drug use are not permitted anywhere on the property, inside >or< out. ALLERGY INFORMATION: When I am home, I have two cats who live with me. While I do my best to ensure an exceptionally clean space, I cannot guarantee my home is allergen-free. Gracie and Princess do not appreciate other animals in their home and I am allergic to dogs, so please no animals when you visit. BUGS & CRITTERS: You WILL encounter wildlife, including insects & spiders during your stay. We do routinely treat for insect control, but being on the water, insects happen. They will come in the house, especially if you leave the doors or windows open. We strongly recommend cleaning up any food or drink spills promptly or the ants WILL come. This is life on The Rivah and unavoidable. Outside, you may encounter snakes, lizards, fiddler crabs, birds, spiders, neighborhood dogs, and other wildlife and insects. Osprey, Heron, Eagles and other sea birds many leave "presents" such as partially eaten fish, oysters or crabs (and poop!) on the dock, deck or in the yard. No discounts or refunds for any encounters with wildlife, insects or for any deposits/debris/webs left behind by said wildlife, inside or out. EV CHARGING: The nearest EV charger is at the Sheetz in Tappahannock or Dairy Queen in Kilmarnock. We do not have a way to SAFELY charge your EVs. Please don't try or you will blow breakers in the house. CONNECTIVITY & WIFI: The 3 major cell carriers typically have 2-3 bars, so cell service is generally not an issue; however, you may have dead spots in the house. WiFi is high speed fiber broadband with an average of 50-60 Mbps. We offer it as a courtesy to our guests, not a guaranteed amenity.
