You will stay under a beautiful old beam construction that was laid by the carpenters of 370 years ago. And that sleeps wonderfully! The space ”De Snelle Jager” The apartment is located on the first floor of one of the historic “Tichelaar houses”. This beautiful historic building with a stepped gable, dates from around 1650 and is a national monument. Many old elements have been preserved, such as the tile tableau "De Snelle Jager" from 1767 from the Royal Tichelaar pottery factory. The apartment is indoor and is located on the first floor. So you share the front door of the property with the residents, and there is a sweet dog in the house. It has a spacious living room with kitchen and bathroom (total 40 m²) and is equipped with all comforts such as a TV and WiFi. On the floor above, which you reach via a staircase, is the sleeping area (25m²) with a double bed or two single beds. If desired, we can serve you a delicious breakfast so that you can start the day rested and satisfied. From the apartment, you have a view of the waterway the "Grutte Sylroede" and the historic center of Makkum. In the summer, this gives a cozy hustle and bustle of boats sailing in Fryslân or on their way to the IJsselmeer and beyond... You can walk into the city center in a few minutes, where you will find a bakery, butcher, supermarket, various restaurants, shops, the lock and the harbor. In short, for daily groceries, a fried fish, renting a bike or an evening of culinary dining, you can go to Makkum. Makkum, is a great base for beautiful nature walks, bike rides and visits to historic (11) cities such as Harlingen, Franeker, Bolsward and Sneek. Each one is more than worth it and can be reached within a radius of about 10-25 km. Makkum beach, with its long sandy beach, is loved by sun worshipers and swimmers. You will also find some cozy terraces, restaurants, shops and a fish stall. In short, on sunny days, it is "the place to be." For sports enthusiasts, Makkum beach is a great place for various sports activities such as wind and kite surfing, in which you can also take lessons. Or rent a paddle board or canoe to explore the village and its surroundings from the water.
