Description

Nestled in the beautiful West Dorset hills, in an AONB, lies The Cattlebarn. A renovated barn, this self contained, modern, light space has its own entrance and a private balcony which enjoys secluded views of the orchard and fields beyond. It is the perfect escape for couples looking for a stylish and comfortable retreat. It offers access to endless walks, local shops, restaurants, pubs and countless day trips around Dorset and the Jurassic Coast. The space The Cattlebarn is a self contained ground floor property, with one step up to the front door. It sits across the yard from the family home and within the owners small holding/ equestrian land where he works as a horseman and horse trainer. A small flock of ‘Easycare’ sheep also graze the land and day to day family life continues. The Cattlebarn offers an airy, open plan space including a living room (with log burner), dining area, modern kitchen, bathroom and a double bedroom. The south facing elevation and balcony, offer panoramic views across the orchard and the roaming hills beyond. Living Room The bright living room has full length doors opening up onto the balcony. There is a a large L shaped sofa, a TV, games and a cosy log burner for colder days and nights. Kitchen The stylish kitchen is equipped with a kettle, toaster, fridge / freezer compartment , an induction hob, fan oven, phone charging points and a dishwasher. Tea and coffee are available. (no microwave) Dining A large table and benches provides a great space for meal times. Al fresco dining can be enjoyed on the balcony. Bathroom The bathroom is modern and crisp with a cascade shower and heated towel rail. Towels and hand soap are provided. Bedroom Up two small steps from the living area, at the back of the property, is the cosy bedroom. It has a comfortable king size bed providing a tranquil retreat after a busy day. There is a chest of drawers and hanging space for clothes. Phone charging points are available next to the bed. The room can accommodate a baby/ toddler if required. A travel cot is available but please bring own cot bedding. Balcony The decked balcony has two relaxing chairs and a bistro style table and chairs. Enjoy a morning coffee or grab a glass of something and take in the incredible sun sets we witness here. The resident horses and sheep graze in the adjacent fields. This AONB is home to rich and abundant wildlife, including deer and birds of prey- great for photographers , walkers, horse riders and artists. For those who love the outdoors, there are many footpaths and bridleways to explore. For those who simply want to relax and unwind, this setting offers the perfect place to do just that. A 3 min drive/15 min walk takes you to the charming town of Beaminster with its Co-op, bakery, butchers, florist, greengrocer, independent shops, museum, PO, pharmacy, doctor surgery, church, cafes, restaurants and pubs. A 15 min drive takes you to the thriving, cultural market town of Bridport with its antiques quarter, weekly markets, independent shops and cafes, Waitrose and Morrisons supermarkets, arts and leisure centres and the popular Electric Palace theatre. The seaside towns of Charmouth, Burton Bradstock and West Bay, (known to many as ‘Broadchurch’ ) lie nearby and are perfect for exploring the beaches, fossiling and cliff walks. Alternatively, a 40 min drive takes you to the beautiful harbour of Lyme Regis with its famous cobb , fishing trips, sandy beach, local shops, cafes and restaurants.
