Enjoy country vibes atop a hill just outside the village of Salem, NY. Previously owned and converted by a local artist, the barn features a combination of original character and unique updates. In addition to enough space for a large group or family, the barn overlooks a pond, views of the VT hills, and even the occasional sheep! The main bedroom includes a full bed, while a loft area houses two single beds. An open-concept room includes a pool table, bunks beds, and extra sleep spots. The barn is a large home featuring a fairly open layout. The main entrance opens into a large hallway, which features the most original barn charm. For sleeping, there is only one private bedroom with a full bed. Upstairs is a loft area with two single beds. Another large room houses bunk beds, an extra mattress, and foldout couch. The barn sits across the dirt road from our home. We use the property around the barn and spend a lot of time outside tending to the animals and the plants. If you stay with us, you will very likely see us and our children running around. We love the outdoors, but will respect your privacy! The inside of the barn is very peaceful, but you will likely hear some farmy noises during your stay (roosters crowing and sheep baaing). This will be our first summer owning the barn, so feedback on temperature control is welcome! The pond on the property was dug out and cleaned up last summer. Despite the work we did on it, the water level fluctuates (whether we like it or not!!) In the summer months the water level tends to go down significantly. Luckily, Mother Nature has been kind to us this summer in the form of rain (maybe a little too kind!!) You’ll be able to access most anything on the barn side of the road. Feel free to roam the yard, gardens, and pond. Watch out for electrical fences! All areas of the barn are open to you, except the attic space. We use the garage area of the barn throughout the year for our personal needs and to do the usual chores around the place. I arrange flowers there every Saturday morning. We will try to keep a low profile while visitors are around, but we live just across the way so we’re around! We will be quite available, by text or possibly in person, during most stays. During the school year we both work away from the house during the day. Treavor is available more readily during the summer months. Please feel free to reach out if you need anything, have questions, or would like suggestions for things to do/ places to go. The hill is a very pleasant walk with just two more homes beyond ours, leading to a dead end. Please drive carefully on the road. Our neighbors are all great and they walk the hill daily. You can park in the barn’s driveway or along the road. We might be able to spare a spot in our driveway (just across the road) if needed. We are located just outside Salem, NY. It’s a tiny town located roughly 40 minutes from just about any other major town! Saratoga, NY, Manchester, VT, Glens Falls, Bennington… 40 minutes!! The towns of Greenwich, Cambridge, and Granville are all within 20 minutes. We don’t have a grocery store in Salem, but we have a very well stocked Dollar General and a Stewart’s for basics. If you’d like to hit up a larger store, we usually go to Hannaford in Greenwich.
