Family-Friendly, Quiet Lake/City, 3rd Floor Flat!

Comfortable and quiet house in the middle of the vibrant city for work or play: This is a peaceful, sunny flat tucked away in the top floor of a turn-of-the-century house on a hill overlooking Lake Monona, smack in the middle of Madison's bohemian East Side. Sorry, but no late arrivals. The space Sunny, modern rooms overlook expansive lake views plus lake access. Park easily on the street, then leave your car behind with close walks to food, shopping, and nightlife. You'll love it. We are in a quiet cul-de-sac, right on the lake. Even though the house is quiet and peaceful, we are in the heart of Madison! There are 23 restaurants within 3 blocks, up and down Willy St. There is night life, a theater, parks, bakeries, groceries, all within just a few walkable blocks. Plus easy access to the rest of Madison! We attract many guests that stay with us again and again. Take a look at their reviews! The first thing you notice in walking in is an inviting living-room with views straight down to the lake. The seating is comfortable for you and your guests with good light for reading or working. A flat-screen, smart-TV gives you access to movies on your Netflix account, music, and lots of other internet services. Plug your smart-phone in to a portable Bose music system to fill the room with great sound. Wireless access completes the picture to connect you to the outside world. The well-equipped kitchen comes complete with coffee, as well all the cookware necessary if you decide to cook for yourself. It will be a tough decision though because there are tons of excellent restaurants within a short walk of the apartment. Both bedrooms also have great lake views and are well appointed without being cluttered. The front room has a queen bed; the middle bedroom has a full-sized bed. The beds have high quality linens and new mattresses. Let's be serious, the most important part of an overnight accommodation is the bed you sleep in. Both beds are excellent. The larger bed has a topper to make for a softer sleep. The full-sized bed is a firm mattress for back support. The living room is comfortable and bright. The new L-shaped couch hides a pull-out bed, with linens tucked in a hide-a-way chest under part of the couch. We have two window-box air conditioners, one in the living room and one in the larger bedroom. The apartment gets great cross ventilation off the lake though, so it's only needed on the warmest days. If weather is cooler, I frequently remove the air conditioners so as not to block the views. Please feel free to request them if you'd like them. Guest access Among the great features of this apartment is access to Lake Monona, one of the two lakes that form the isthmus from which Madison gets so much of its identity. On the lake, you have access to a dock and patio, complete with charcoal grill. You are welcome to have a fire in the fire pit. The space is shared with me and my downstairs neighbor, but that can just lead to excellent conversations as the sun goes down. It's an amazing summer night experience! During the winter, skating, skiing, and ice fishing are all possible! Message me if you'd like more information about any of these great options. You have your own private entrance along the back, left side of the house. But meet us at the front door and we'll walk you back there. It's a bit circuitous up the stairs in the back and the hall is somewhat narrow. No one has had a problem getting in, but it's helpful to be shown the way. If you think you might have a problem going up two flights of stairs, message me and we can talk more about it. Baby stuff: We love to host families with children and babies as we have a couple of our own. We have a pack-and-play, high chair, trike/stroller, and the other amenities listed below, but they may not all be installed before you arrive. There are doors between the various sections of the apartment and access to stairs, so you can create spaces set-up for little ones, if you'd like. The house isn't specifically toddler-proofed to start. But, message me and we can help you adjust things. In addition to outdoor fun, amenities of the apartment include coin-operated laundry machines in the basement. I provide information about things happening in Madison and about the many restaurants and entertainment possibilities, all within a short walk of the apartment. Other things to note This apartment is fully licensed and authorized by the City of Madison. We've been inspected and approved by the public health department. Many other Madison apartments have not undergone this certification. The apartment is on the third floor and has a narrow hallway staircase up the two floors to the apartment. The fire-pit and lake amenities are yours to enjoy but by booking with us you assume responsibility for any associated risks to you and your guests. The dock to the lake is an awesome space to sit and drink coffee during summer mornings, but is wobbly. Sorry, but we cannot accept initial arrivals after 9 PM. This means for all of your guests as well. It is a confusing neighborhood and walk up that is difficult to negotiate for the first time late at night. The commotion causes problems for my neighbors as well. Please check your travel plans to make sure that this is going to work for you and all of your guests.
