Description
Discover 'Dome Serenity in South Iceland', your luxurious haven amidst serene farmland. Enjoy a grand 180-degree view of Mount Hekla, one of Iceland's most active volcanoes, from our private mirror dome. Mornings bring an ethereal beauty, revealing Hekla's profound majesty. By winter, the dome transforms into your personal Northern Lights Observatory. Whether seeking a peaceful retreat, a romantic escape, or thrilling adventure, 'Dome Serenity in South Iceland' is your perfect getaway. The space The space is a polycarbonate mirror dome, highly weather-proof and offers spectacular views. The dome is just over 10sqm and 70% of it is insulated from within. It has electricity and an electric heater to keep you warm and toasty throughout the night. The bed is nice and comfy, with electric heating blankets and we have extra warm duvets and extra blankets. As of yet, the toilet and shower facilities are only in the restaurant building which is a brisk 100m walk (or drive) from the dome. We keep them open 24/7 but lock access to other parts of the building. For our guests, I have prepared a temporary shower facility there and towels for quick showers - but I still recommend visiting the public swimming pool in Hella if you want to unwind in the warm pool, hot tubs or saunas for the ultimate Icelandic experience. Guest access You’ll have the entire dome to yourself, in the middle of a field with no one walking past, panoramic view of Mt. Hekla and a traditional Icelandic turf wall surrounding the dome. A white door with a ‘WC’ sign on the big black restaurant building marks your access to toilet facilities and a tiny kitchenette where you can prepare tea and coffee. During your stay I live in the grey house behind the restaurant so if there are any issues during your stay, please message me and I’ll be right there, or if I’m by chance not on-site, I’ll send someone. I’m the only person overseeing the messages so if it’s late and I don’t see your message, it means I’m asleep. Then, in case of emergency, please call the number in the check-in message. Other things to note We would like to mention that this is a ‘Glamping dome’ or a step above camping so we urge you to see it for what it is and submerge yourself in nature and enjoy the romance it offers. If it’s very windy, I recommend bringing ear-plugs as the domes can get noisy although they’re very sturdy. You might catch glimpse of the neighbouring potato farmers, driving their fresh produce to be washed, packed and taken to stores the same day. This is a deep immersion into the oldest farm village in Iceland, Thykkvibaer!
