Welcome to the Biwa Quixote House! Let the awesome breezes off Mount Hira and the cooling waters of Lake Biwa provide that quiet escape you need from the crowds in Kyoto; refresh you between cultural excursions to World Heritage sites; and recharge you after full-on outdoor sport or hikes to see natural wonders. The space Inspired by the knight-errant, Don Quixote, the owner-artisan sculpted the house with the hope that friends would relax and be refreshed in its creative, whimsical environment. The boldly colored Quixote Room is a fully equipped private loft suite with a prime view of Lake Biwa. We hope the elements depicting his great gallantry, love and chivalry will inspire you! Guests get the entrance key and their own room key. A postbox, door intercom, and car and bike parking are available. Guest access Mount Hira is nestled well into one of the prime resort areas surrounding Lake Biwa. Natural hot springs, hiking and sport areas like Omi Maiko and Biwako Valley Ski Resort are easily accessible. We can give you some guides about local cultural and artistic hot spots to reach on foot, by car or slow train, or get you on an express train to Kyoto and beyond. If nature, hiking and sport is not your thing, go ahead and set an aggressive tour of Kyoto for the day and leave the hustling crowds behind for this quiet, relaxing environment each night. Other things to note We are happy to pick you up when you arrive and drop you back to the station when you check out. During your stay, rides to and from the two nearest JR Kosei Line stations (Omi Maiko and Hira) can be arranged by request. Note that shoes are worn inside the building's guest entrance on the second floor, but not inside any of the third floor suites. (Take your shoes off inside your own entrance area. Bring some extra socks or borrow some slippers from us- whichever makes you more comfortable.) Extra help to book activities and help getting to and from, guide services or special meal or event requests are fine with advanced booking. A favorite end of day jaunt for guests hiking in Shiga and those hitting the high spots in Kyoto is the local onsen (hot springs spa). It's just minutes away, but we're always glad to take you there and pick you up if you don't feel like walking!
