Description

A luxury and new one bedroom open plan waterfront Villa directly on the Sea of Abaco. Includes a 50-foot private protected dock. Spectacular 400 sq ft outdoor lower deck with stairs that lead directly into the ocean and a huge upper covered patio and deck. Our luxurious villa with outdoor living is the ideal private getaway for a couple looking for a picture perfect location with all the amenities. Kayak, paddle board and snorkel without leaving the property (Equipment included). The space MERMAID COVE — Where the Sea of Abaco is your front yard. Wake up to turquoise water just steps from your door. Mermaid Cove is a luxury one-bedroom oceanfront villa set directly on the Sea of Abaco in a private, gated peninsula at the tip of Marsh Harbour. With your own protected dock, panoramic water views from every room, and stairs that lead straight into the sea, this is the intimate island escape most travelers only dream about. Rated 5.0 stars with 33 five-star reviews, Mermaid Cove has earned Airbnb's "Top 5% of Homes" designation and is consistently described by guests as the best they have stayed at in the Abacos. THE HOME Mermaid Cove was purpose-built for luxury island living and completed in April 2023. Every design choice — from the Bahamian-style exposed ceilings to the triple sliding glass doors that open the entire living space to the sea — was made to blur the line between indoors and out. Interior highlights: Open-plan layout with vaulted ceilings creates a spacious, airy feel far beyond a typical one-bedroom King-size bed with premium hemp linens, plush comforter, and extra pillows for an exceptional night's sleep Double-vanity modern bathroom with oversized rain shower Well-appointed kitchen with gas range, full-size refrigerator and freezer, dishwasher, standalone ice maker, microwave, air fryer, coffee machine, toaster, blender, and electric kettle 50-inch smart TV with Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and more Sonos speaker system with built-in streaming and AirPlay so you can play your own music throughout the villa Full-size washer and dryer — pack light and do laundry on your schedule Large closets and ample storage throughout High-speed Starlink WiFi reaches every room, patio, deck, and dock Dedicated workspace area for those who need to stay connected OUTDOOR LIVING — THE HEART OF MERMAID COVE At Mermaid Cove, the best room in the house has no roof. Upper Level — Covered Patio (~400 sq ft): Three double sliding doors open from the living area onto a large covered patio furnished with an outdoor dining table, comfortable seating, and sweeping 180-degree views over the Sea of Abaco. From here you can see Montage Cay island, Man-O-War Cay, and boats cruising through the channel. This is where most guests have their morning coffee and evening cocktails. Lower Level — Oceanfront Deck (~450 sq ft): A generous waterfront deck sits right at the water's edge with two cushioned sun loungers and two Adirondack chairs. Wide stairs lead directly from the deck into the crystal-clear Sea of Abaco — no beach walk, no road to cross. You are literally on the ocean. A Weber gas grill is positioned here for cooking with a view. Water toys are launched directly from this deck: 2 watercraft (mix and match kayaks or stand-up paddleboards to suit your preference) Large floating water mat Snorkel gear (fins, masks, snorkels) for 2 guests Wide deck and stairs make launching effortless The outdoor space provides two distinct living areas across two levels — approximately 850 square feet of combined deck and patio space — all with direct ocean views and high-speed WiFi. YOUR PRIVATE DOCK & MARINA This is what sets Mermaid Cove apart from nearly every vacation rental in the Abacos. Your stay includes access to a private, protected boat slip in our on-site marina for vessels up to 60 feet. The marina sits on the calm canal between the property and Sugarloaf Cay, providing sheltered dockage in virtually any weather — including strong northerly winds. Dock amenities: Reverse osmosis fresh water at the dock 30-amp and 50-amp shore power available Comfortable Adirondack chairs and shaded seating area on the dock Fish cleaning station — clean your catch steps from your boat A completely different water view from the marina side (south-facing over the Sugarloaf Canal and lagoon) with spectacular sunsets Whether you bring your own boat, rent locally, or simply want a quiet spot to watch the sunset, the marina is always available to you. And because it faces south while the house faces north, you always have a protected side for kayaking, paddleboarding, or simply relaxing by the water regardless of wind direction. Guests are welcome to use all water toys — kayaks, paddleboards, and water mats — on the marina side as well. This is a huge advantage, providing a completely different area to explore by water and protected conditions when northerly winds make the ocean side choppy. Please inquire about dockage at the time of booking. No liveaboards. OFF-GRID LUXURY — POWER & WATER Mermaid Cove is part of an entirely self-sufficient private property. You will never worry about power outages or water quality. Solar power plant provides reliable 24/7 electricity. Two diesel generators stand by as backup only. This is a true "green" power system — you are staying at one of the most sustainably powered vacation rentals in the Bahamas. Rainwater harvesting system collects and stores fresh water on-site. Reverse osmosis and a quadruple filtration system with UV treatment ensure every faucet delivers clean, drinkable water. No need to buy bottled water. High-speed Starlink satellite internet delivers fast, reliable WiFi to every corner of the property — indoors, on every deck, and at the docks. PRIVACY, SECURITY & EXCLUSIVITY Mermaid Cove sits within Eastern Shores, a private gated peninsula at the very tip of Marsh Harbour. Water surrounds you on nearly every side — the Sea of Abaco to the north, Sugarloaf Cay channel and lagoon to the south. Gated community entrance with private road access Ring security cameras monitor the road entrance and marina only — there are absolutely no cameras inside the home or in any private spaces. We take guest privacy and safety very seriously. Quiet, upscale residential neighborhood ideal for walking, jogging, or simply enjoying the peace Your villa has its own private parking, entrance, decks, and ocean access — completely separate from any other structure on the property THE MOST CENTRAL LOCATION IN THE ABACOS This is one of the most significant advantages of staying at Mermaid Cove. Unlike rentals on the outer cays where you are limited to one small island, our location on the main island of Great Abaco — right at the hub of Marsh Harbour — gives you unmatched flexibility to explore by both land and sea. By water (distances from your dock): Hope Town / Elbow Cay — 3.5 miles Man-O-War Cay — under 3 miles Mermaid Reef (snorkeling) — 1.5 miles Lubbers Quarters / Tahiti Beach — short ride south Fowl Cay National Park — nearby Montage Cay — less than 1 mile across the bay. This stunning 53-acre private island is home to a luxury Montage resort currently under development featuring a 50-suite inn, spa, deep-water marina, and five dining venues. You can see it from your deck — a beautiful backdrop that enhances the view and signals the caliber of this area. Treasure Cay — approximately 20 miles north Green Turtle Cay — approximately 20 miles north Little Harbour / Pete's Pub — to the south By land (distances from Mermaid Cove): Marsh Harbour Airport (MHH) — minutes away Albury's Ferry Dock (service to Hope Town, Man-O-War, Guana Cay) — less than 1 mile, located on a private road as you enter Eastern Shores. Island hopping without a boat is easy. Maxwell's Supermarket and Price Right grocery — minutes Liquor store, pharmacy, clinic — minutes Local restaurants — minutes Boat Harbour Marina (large full-service marina with fuel, diesel, and restaurants) — only 1.5 miles by car or boat A rental car is recommended for getting around Marsh Harbour and exploring the mainland. Taxis are always available at the airport. BOATING IN THE ABACOS The Abacos are widely regarded as one of the best boating destinations in the world. The Sea of Abaco provides protected waters between the outer cays and the mainland, creating ideal conditions for exploring by boat. From our dock you can: Island-hop to Hope Town, Man-O-War, Great Guana Cay, Green Turtle Cay, and dozens of smaller cays Access world-class offshore and bonefishing grounds Anchor at pristine, uninhabited beaches and sandbars Snorkel coral reefs and underwater parks like Fowl Cay Visit Tahiti Beach on the southern tip of Elbow Cay Cruise to Pete's Pub at Little Harbour for a legendary waterside lunch Reach Treasure Cay and Green Turtle Cay to the north for extended day trips Being centrally positioned on the Sea of Abaco means you avoid long open-water crossings. Day trips in every direction are short, safe, and enjoyable. If you plan to rent a boat, we strongly recommend booking early — rentals fill up fast during peak season. If bringing your own vessel, please provide details when requesting your booking so we can prepare your slip. GOOD TO KNOW Additional housekeeping services are available on request, including daily cleaning if preferred. Mermaid Cove is a completely private, standalone villa on our larger property. It sits adjacent to Starfish Bay, our three-bedroom vacation home. Both are available to rent separately or together as a 4-bedroom compound (subject to availability). Self check-in via keypad — arrive on your schedule. Once booked, you will receive access to our comprehensive digital guest guide packed with local recommendations, restaurant guides, boat rental contacts, activity ideas, and everything you need to plan the perfect trip. We make it easy for you to be as active or as relaxed as you want. Whether you want an action-packed week of boating, diving, and island-hopping — or a quiet retreat with nothing but a book, a stunning view, and the sound of the water — Mermaid Cove delivers both. We look forward to hosting you in paradise. Guest access Guests have full private access to Mermaid Cove and its outdoor spaces, as well as shared access to the gated Eastern Shores peninsula and our on-site marina. You’ll enter Eastern Shores through a private community gate on a single access road. A unique gate code will be provided to you before arrival so you can come and go on your own schedule. Mermaid Cove has its own dedicated parking area and a private entrance separate from any other structure on the property. Entry to the villa is via an electronic keypad lock on the front door—no keys to pick up or worry about losing. Your personal door code, along with the gate code and detailed arrival instructions, will be sent to you in advance of check-in. With these codes you’ll be able to drive directly to the property, park, and let yourself into the villa and community gate at any time after check-in. Other things to note Mermaid Cove is perfectly placed for days that can be as relaxed or as adventurous as you like. From your private dock in Eastern Shores, you’re sitting at the hub of the Abacos with an incredible amount to see and do in every direction by boat and by car. On the water, you can: Cruise to Hope Town on Elbow Cay to climb the iconic Elbow Reef Lighthouse, wander the pastel village, and enjoy beach bars and restaurants. Head to Man‑O‑War Cay to explore its boatbuilding heritage, small museum, and quiet beaches. Slip down to Tahiti Beach and neighboring Lubbers Quarters for sandbars at low tide, swimming in shallow turquoise water, snorkeling, and a casual beach day in a laid‑back setting. Hop over to Great Guana Cay for famous beach bars like Nipper’s and Grabber’s, long ocean beaches, and reef snorkeling. Snorkel nearby Mermaid Reef, visit Fowl Cay National Park, or book fishing/diving charters for reef, offshore, or bonefishing days in the protected Sea of Abaco. By land, Marsh Harbour is your practical and cultural base, with groceries, shops, local bars and restaurants, festivals, and nature or birding tours on the main island. A car also makes it easy to drive north to Treasure Cay for its famous beach and tour operators, or south to Little Harbour to visit Pete’s Pub, the foundry, and its gorgeous cove. Once you book, you’ll receive our detailed digital guide with maps, recommended routes, favorite restaurants and beach bars, charter contacts, and suggested day‑by‑day itineraries for Marsh Harbour, Hope Town, Man‑O‑War, Guana Cay, Lubbers, Tahiti Beach, Treasure Cay, and Pete’s Pub so you can make the most of every day in the Abacos.
