The mountains are calling! The horses are neighing! Camp on a 187-acre horse farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains! This is the farm where I grew up. I’m living my dream with several rescue horses! Come explore my farm...meet my 19-hand draft horse Percheron, Brock; my bossy paint pony, Dixie; & three other equine characters! Miles of hiking trails! Campsite is beside a mountain stream. Includes fire pit w/grill, firewood, chairs, picnic table, Eno hammock, & flushable camping toilet in privacy tent. The space The campsite is very private and romantic! I have soft light solar lanterns throughout the campsite, that coupled with the open sky, and soothing brook set the tone for romance OR provide a calming atmosphere for busy families and friends after exploring the farm and hiking trails. Drive through the red gate (see photos) about 60 yards and drive straight to your campsite and park in an amazingly convenient newly graveled space. There you will be between two ridges, surrounded by trees, with an open sky area perfect for stargazing with no streetlights. It is not a steep drive; it’s a flat graveled trail so you do not need a 4WD. You will have complete privacy in this nature cove! The campsite includes a large concrete slab where the original farmhouse stood. The chairs, fire pit and picnic table are on the concrete. If you choose, walk back out of the campsite to visit the horses peacefully grazing in their pasture by the barn. You can message Michele for a time to help feed the horses or pet them on your own over the fence. (No treats please, as they are all on special diets.) Pitch your tent wherever you please within the campsite area. Unplug and relax by a gently flowing mountain stream. Enjoy easy as well as moderate walking trails. Cook supper on the fire pit and later roast marshmallows or make s’mores. Watch fireflies dance in the meadows at dark. Look for deer feeding at sunrise or dusk. Listen for the gobble of the wild turkeys. Breathe in the restorative beauty of this pastoral horse farm set in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Guest access Guests may walk around the farm and pet the horses and donkey. There are multiple hiking trails. There are countless opportunities for nature photography. Other things to note Please bring your own tent. Fire pit w/grill, firewood, chairs, Eno hammock, and picnic table are provided. A tent with flushable toilet is provided. A 5.3 gallon shower bag can be provided at your request. Fill with mountain stream water, place in the sun, and in a few hours you have hot water for two showers!
