Apartment in Patterdale at the foot of Helvellyn

We are located in Patterdale, on the southern tip of Ullswater and at the foot of Helvellyn. Our location is perfect for bagging a Wainwright or two, running a Lakeland trail, doing the Helvellyn Triathlon or going for a trip on an Ullswater Steamer, a great starting point to walk Helvellyn & Striding Edge . We are enroute for both Wainwright's C2C walk and the Ullswater Way. Built in 1902, this self contained apartment was historically the station end of Patterdale Police Station. The space Station End is an inviting place to stay. Historically, as the name suggests, it was the Police Station end of the property. The front desk to the police station was originally what is now, the entrance porch/boot room . Steps lead up to the Sergeant's office which is now the main reception room and living area, with a multifuel stove to keep you cosy in the colder months, although not suitable for cooking on. Through a small hallway/vestibule are the 2 old police cells, one is now a double bedroom and the other, a fully well equipped kitchen with an electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine as well as crockery and cooking utensils. The old exercise yard walkway is now a shower room & toilet. The courtyard patio, the old exercise yard to the rear is lovely in the sunshine. Fresh linen and towels will be provided for your stay. Guest access Off-road parking is available on a shared driveway. You will have access to the entirety of Station End, as well as the patio area at the rear of the property, accessible via the patio doors from the bedroom. Station End is a ground floor apartment, however it is not all on one level. There are two steps leading from the entrance porch up into the accommodation. There is no step free access from the rear of the property. Guests may park immediately outside the front door of Station End or if preferred, in the Lay-by directly alongside. We can provide a more detailed access statement upon request. Other things to note Station End is situated next to Patterdale Mountain Rescue Centre and the Patterdale retainer fire station. Patterdale fire station have regular practice/drill nights on Thursdays (they do not disturb us)
