Description

Our 88-acre farm spreads up a steep hillside above the village of Randolph, one mile away. The land is a mixture of open areas where we rotate our sheep flock daily, and wooded land with trails and old stone walls. You might hear the occasional car or truck on a nearby road, but more likely you'll hear our sheep baaing to one another or the cows across the valley trumpeting, or the abundance of birdsong. The energy here is calming and peaceful--we know you will love it as much as we do. The space The yurt is designed to be an open space with "areas" for kitchen, bedroom, living, etc. A solid-wall bathroom provides privacy for changing and personal hygiene. We have easy-open windows, rechargeable lights and lamps, and a battery onsite for light electronics (and to run the essential coffee grinder!). The drive (in good conditions) or walk (in muddy or snowy conditions) up to the yurt is scenic, bringing guests just out of site of the house but within a five-ten minute walk. Surrounding the yurt are trees with a large open view to the north and east. There is a fire ring for those who would like to spend time enjoying a more camp-like feel. Guest access Our home is in the center of the farm, at the end of Tilton Road. A main parking area is here with dedicated spaces for guests near the animal sheds. In the summer, this area can be used as a staging area or overflow for guests, or simply check in before driving up to the yurt. In good weather conditions, the yurt road is drivable by most sedans (if you have questions or concerns, please reach out) and by all typical SUVs. In the muddy or snowy conditions, guests will need to park in the lot and walk or snowshoe up to the yurt, which is about 1100 feet and four stories in elevation. We can provide a transport sled and some snowshoes on request--if you have need, let's chat! There is no dedicated neighborhood transport, but the farm is a walkable one mile from downtown, and about 1.5 miles from the nearest large supermarket. Please note the road is steep, so comfortable shoes are a must. Guests arriving on the Amtrak train can be picked up and brought to the farm if needed. Other things to note The yurt is year-round, heated with a direct-vent gas stove on a thermostat. The floors and walls are insulated, but we do recommend folks bring warm clothing and slippers or inside footwear, as it's still not quite the same as being inside a solid-walled house.
