Dancing encouraged in Other things to note How to get here; Vehicle, Bus, Boat or Local Airline (Sansa) VEHICLE (4x4 only recommended): • Roads are better than ever and all but two rivers now have bridges. You will cross the two rivers as you get close to arriving. >SUMMERTIME (December - May) the rivers are very low (only maybe 2-4 inches deep) making it easy to pass. >RAINY SEASON (June - November) the rivers fluctuate day to day and week to week. We encourage guests to arrive in the afternoon when the rivers are typically at their lowest. The rain dictates our ability to cross the river. Usually if there is a heavy downpour, it is in the evening and by 10am or so they go back down to cross again. But it may rain anytime and you could have to wait a matter of hours or a day or so if it is down-pouring and continues to do so. We do have secure parking available on the other side of the river if needed. You may then walk across and we can pick you up this side of the river. If you are here for the adventure and you aren’t in a rush, come on down. If you have an international flight the day of your departure or your itinerary needs strict adherence and there isn’t so much flexibility in your travel time/plans, then I wouldn’t recommend coming down in the rainy season. BOAT SHUTTLE + TAXI (from Sierpe to Drake Bay) Daily Boat Times: • 11:30am ($20) • 4pm ($20) + TAXI (from Drake Bay to Villa) • $30/group BOAT SHUTTLE RETURN (from Drake Bay to Sierpe) • 7:30am ($20) • 2:30pm ($20) Taxi from villa to Drake Bay ($30/group) *Boat prices are one way, per person *Taxi prices are for the group The boat shuttle is a beautiful ride and a tour in itself. It’s approximately 45 minutes along the river through the mangroves and about 30 minutes along the Pacific Ocean. Boat captains look for crocodiles along the river for viewing and whales/dolphins along the ocean. LOCAL AIRLINE (SANSA) + TAXI: • San Jose to Drake Bay in about 40 minutes and another 40 minutes to arrive by Taxi • Plane holds approximately 10 seats • Fly over the beautiful landscape through mountains, rivers, waterfalls; typically pass by the infamous “Whale Tail” in Uvita.
