Description

Two very quiet bedrooms overlooking a south facing garden with a king and double bed. One extra room with a sofa bed. Living room with fireplace. Well-equipped, large kitchen, veranda opening into the garden. Good shower with a large bathtub and a small toilet downstairs. Parking space available on demand. The house is 6 minutes from Bermondsey (10 minutes to Westminster/Green Park), and 17 minutes walk to Tower Bridge. We’re a dog-friendly house for all small to medium dogs (please enquire). The space Important note! Because we're only taking short breaks this year, Zazel our cat will stay home so please if you have allergies do not book. Also we can't accept other pets. Besides that, there is nothing to worry about Zazel, he's 10 years, pretty chilled and very friendly with our 1-year-old son. His litter will be cleaned before you come and he lives his life peacefully, going in the garden and sleeping in the corner of the sofa (not the one that converts into a bed, don't worry). There is an automatic food delivery system, but he'll be thrilled if you give him a little portion of wet food in the evening. Obviously, the price has been reduced for that reason. Although at the heart of London, the house is exceptionally peaceful since located on a cul-de-sac with a 100 sqm south-facing garden on the other side. The garden is extremely private and very quiet with a primary school right after (it also makes it very safe). This is one of the few Victorian houses preserved in the area thanks to an artist housing association that worked hard to defend them, the two lovely adjacent neighbours are actually one of the early owners. Falling in love with the quietness of the place we’ve put a lot of effort into renovating it to amazing standards, with a glazed side extension, outside deck, custom kitchen, fitted cupboards, brand new boiler system, and even solar panels. With the summer I’m sure you will spend a lot of evenings in the lovely garden, shaded by a 50-year-old maple tree, watching the birds, the squirrels, and the odd fox passing through. Maybe you will enjoy a delicious BBQ with meat sourced from one of the local butchers and a beer from the beer mile (I recommend Moors). The house itself has 3 bedrooms 2 which are extremely peaceful, facing the garden, one comes with a double bed and the other one with a sing size bed. There is a third room which can officiate as a bedroom/office but it had a sofa and is facing the street (so you get a bit more noise particularly on Thursday with bin collection). The mattress and the linen are of good facture and we provide 2 fans for the hot summer days. The kitchen is a beautiful large open space, with the dining table sitting under the veranda. It's well equipped, with an island for cooking, an induction hob, an oven, a microwave, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. For those who like me love to start the day with a good coffee, there is a Melita beans-to-cup coffee machine, loaded with some delicious coffee. We love good food and cooking and if you too you’re in luck, first because it’s super well equipped. But also, because right next to us passes a train line, under this train line lay arches and in these arches resides some of London's finest wholesale shops (10 min walk), which opens to the public on Saturday/Sunday morning as well as Borough market which has anything one can dream off. The house is completed with a bath/shower with a combi boiler which delivers good pressure and extra small toilets downstairs. We’re totally dog friendly (we own a small Shepherd), for any small to medium well-behaved dog. Note that the dog is not allowed upstairs (ours never goes either) and the fence separating the neighbor at the end of the garden is no higher than 1 meter (so if your dog tends to jump over to explore that’s not going to work). If you’re coming to London with your furry friend, please let us know in advance. We can facilitate street parking for £15 per day, I never had any issues parking there, there is generally space and it’s safe. If you plan to do some work, the house is equipped with WIFI. On the local food/drink side, do not miss the Bermondsey beer mile. If you’re a family you might think that a beer mile is just going to be dudes getting pi… But it’s not, it’s a lot of small breweries who are complete beer geeks (Moors beer is a great example), eager to tell you everything about brewing and so is the clientele. I recommend going on a Saturday or Sunday to benefit from the Maltby street food market which is packed with delicious options. I also strongly recommend the Yellow House right across the park, it’s well-priced (for London) everything there is delicious and homemade, even the ice cream. What else is around: - Southwark Park: 50 meters, this is a lovely park with tennis courts built in 1869, I recommend the new coffee that they build 2 years ago it overlooks the pond and serves some good breakfast. - Russian docks: another lovely park a little further going alongside the river with an animal farm at the end – lovely coffee and pastries) - Bermondsey station: 6 minutes to the Jubilee line - Westminster / Gren Park station: 10 minutes on the Jubilee line - Baker Street (regent park, Mme Tussauds): 15 min on the jubilee line - Tower Bridge: 20 minutes walking by the river - River Thames: 8 min walk - Borough Market: 35 min walking by the river - Bermondsey beer mile: 10 min walk - Best bakery south of the river (for sourdough: Pedlar’s): 10 min walk - Supermarket/pharmacy: 6 min walk (by Bermondsey station) - Canary Wharf: 3 min on the Jubilee line And so many more (we’ll provide you with a map with some good pointers). Obviously, if you have any questions feel free to ask! One little tip, I'm sure you'll be looking at many places, make sure you ask for outside photos. I would not stay in a council house on holidays and I can see many in London. Guest access We most likely won’t be around when you will arrive but our lovely friend Megan might be able to welcome you and tell you even more about London and the area. Other things to note This is a quiet neighborhood, absolutely no parties or excessive noise after 11 pm.
