Cozy cottage surrounded by farmland
Cozy cottage surrounded by farmland
Description
Use this spot as a home base for all your adventures. Just 20 minutes from the Eugene Airport. You will enjoy short drives to the Oregon coast, mountain hikes, wine tasting, local u-pick market farms and more. We are conventional grass seed and hazelnut farmers who live next door and farm on the property. This home is nestled in a mature hazelnut orchard further surrounded by grass fields. Beautiful views everywhere you look. *Please note: There is no smoking allowed anywhere on our property* The space This adorable house is fully refurbished with two ground floor bedrooms with a queen bed each, a loft with two single beds, one full bathroom, and a full kitchen. A sweet porch swing allows to you appreciate the front yard and views. Please note the loft is accessed by a narrow ladder and a tree-house style hatch in the floor. You may not wish small children or anyone with mobility issues to sleep upstairs. Make your sleeping arrangements with safety in mind. The immediately adjacent yard and hazelnut orchard are yours to explore unless harvest activities are occurring. This is usually in early fall and we will alert you to any restrictions. In addition to hazelnut harvest you may see grass or meadowfoam being harvested in mid summer and straw being baled late summer. The shop and parked farm equipment are strictly off limits. Please supervise your children carefully. Although we live on a long private drive, there is sporadic traffic in the form of our normal farm activities as well as delivery trucks of various kinds. We are a working farm with our shop and home base nearby on the property. Seasonally you will observe harvest and crop management activities. We don't find the farming sounds to be disturbing, but if you don't enjoy a very rural, ag-centered feel to your vacation, it may not be for you. WIFI is here, but no broadcast TV. The smart TV can be used to stream NetFlix, etc... Most people have fine cell service here, but it can vary depending on your provider. We live in the country and enjoy copious wildlife. Many birds like quail, jays, wild turkeys, finches, eagles, hawks and owls will visit you here and, less delightfully, some irksome, but harmless insects. Marmarated stink bugs and box elder bugs are prolific, but do not bite or sting. They live in the trees and if you leave doors open, will come in the house. Guest access Our long private drive ensures privacy and a convenience store is a quick 2 mile drive away. 15 minutes will get you to Junction City where grocery shopping and restaurants are available. There are dozens of highly acclaimed wineries within a 10 mile radius, the closest one, just a mile down the road, hosts live music every summer weekend. An hour and a half takes you to the incomparable Oregon coast for the day. There is no public transportation out here and the wait for an Uber may be prohibitive. You will need a car. Parking for up to 3 or 4 vehicles is possible. Other things to note Our farm cats are overly friendly (there are four) and will try to join you inside. They are not indoor cats. If you have smaller children or other family members who need a safer sleep space than the loft, there is a single trundle bed available in one of the bedrooms. If you let us know ahead of time, we can make sure it is accessible for you. If you are accustomed to municipal water, well water may be a new experience. Although it is perfectly safe to drink, bathe in, and cook with, you may find it has unfamiliar odors or taste. We have provided a filter pitcher for you if you prefer.
