In November 2012, the house was taken over by the diocese of Osnabrück, which continues this tradition. The house is right opposite the Catholic Church of Maria Meeresstern - central yet quietly on Borkum's oldest road. Shops and restaurants are only a few steps away. After you have taken the island train from the port of Borkum to the train station, you are already at the Haus St. Josef after about 300 meters. To the beach you walk about 600 meters. Baker and shops can be reached in two minutes. All the apartments in this house are simply, bright and functionally furnished. The living space of this apartment includes a dining area, there is a well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, stove with oven. One bedroom with double bed (200x200) with open bed end and an extra bed. The second room has a single and a foldaway bed. A bathroom with walk-in shower and toilet and a guest toilet. This apartment is disabled friendly with no thresholds. In order to handle the level at the house entrance, we have a ramp that we are happy to provide to you. Of course, amenities such as TV, radio, and Wi-Fi are offered. This house has a special feature: a meditation room, our "room of silence" for personal retreats or simply to unwind, yoga or mindfulness exercises and a common space with a wide selection of games and books, for socializing rounds or themed group works. A large garden with a terrace also invites you to sunbathe or barbecue. For children we have a big swing and plenty of space to bolt.
