Description

Hello and welcome to our Red Road Farm 'Bunkhouse' -- We're so happy to host you! Sitting on our 200 acre estate this authentic barn offers our guests a chance to relax in the beautiful rolling hills of Vermont. Access the vast majority of our historic Stowe area land -- from our apple orchards to our extensive walking paths in fields and woodland. We hope that you can experience such fun and quiet time in our cozy, western-style bunk room. Located only a 10 minute drive from downtown Stowe. The space Enjoy 'glamping' in this rustic yet, captivating setting. This barn has previously served as a reserve for endangered wild horses. It is also owned by and was the inspiration for the screenwriter John Fusco who created movies such as 'Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmeron, Hidalgo and Young Guns. You will see our cinematic memorabilia! Yes you heard that right -- '200 private acres' that are all yours to hike, picnic on, and explore. Do not hesitate to take advantage of our extensive walking paths, orchards and fields. The only area that is off limits is the owners private residence at the top of the hill. During the summer months the open area lounge of the barn is as it appears, 'open'. However, the bathroom and bedroom are closed interior spaces fully protected from the elements. By September as temperatures cool the open area doors will be optional to close if you wish. Though not being equipped with a 'standard kitchen' we offer a large deep sink in the bedroom as well a separate cooking room with a microwave convection air fryer, refrigerator, and coffee maker. During the spring, fall and summer there is a very nice gas grill outside for all your outdoor cooking activities. Please remember that this is not a hotel but 'glamping at its finest'. During the warmer months think of the open areas of the barn as an extension of the 'outdoor space' leaves and grass may occasionally blow through that area during heavy wind. However, your bedroom and bathroom are completely isolated, cozy, and closed off from the elements. During the winter months please know that guests are highly encouraged to have snow tires on their vehicles or they will not be able make it up dirt roads. Despite the fact that our property is well-plowed and maintained, we live in a ski resort town and snow tires are a must to get around if there has been heavy snowfall! In winter the hallways of the barn will be quite chilly but the bedroom and bathroom where you will be staying are fully heated. This is a great time to take advantage of our large property when it comes to cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Guest access Wifi password: Bunkhouse1210 Full access to the Barn and our surrounding land. Walking paths in the fields are very apparent and will lead you to our forest trails as well. For more information on the paths and borders of our property you can reach out to our Co-Host Giovanni, as well as our Concierge Lyndy. Areas that are strictly off limits are the large adjacent barn. This Barn was built in the mid 1800s. It is a historical relic and is unsafe to be explored or accessed. The Mountain House is also off limits. You will notice that above the barn at the top of the large hill is another large property. This is another one of our airbnb's and is off limits. Please do not go further than halfway up the hill in front of the Mountain House. However, you will notice field trails that wrap along the hill and do go uphill to the Northwest; these are fully accessible. If you accidentally drive up too far and enter the parking lot of the Mountain House please go back down the driveway and you will find the Barn and Bunkhouse and take the 2nd left after the woodshed. Though the barn and Bunkhouse should be apparent upon initially heading up our driveway off of the main road. Other things to note Wifi password: bunkhouse1210 Please remember that this is a beautiful yet, very rustic experience. You will likely see wildlife such as deer and fox. Our property also operates as a nature reserve. Swallows (a small species of bird) may occasionally fly through the open area; this is intended as it is also a nature reserve. Regarding summer bookings, and the open area — your bedroom and bathroom will always be clean, cozy and closed off from the open area and the elements. The bunkroom and bathroom are heated. Security cameras are on the driveways only, and are simply there for the property’s safety.
