Sun-Drenched Green Escape - tent or RV!
Say NO THANKS to packed campgrounds, and YES, YAY! to two acres of trees and sunlight, all your own. Locally, enjoy kayaking, boating and fishing on Mineral Lake--you're a 30-second drive from the public swimming dock and boat launch. Or put your feet up next to the campfire after a day of hiking. This site is a beautiful, 30-minute drive from the Nisqually entrance to Mount Rainier. A 7-minute walk (or drive it in the blink of an eye) from "downtown" Mineral, where you can enjoy a meal or a drink at the Headquarters Tavern--one of the oldest in the state, the epitome of a dive bar. Mineral Lake is steps away. No power or running water, but we have a serviced Honey Bucket that we never allow to get gross. This is a family-owned property and--as you'll see from some of the photos--the six of us are enjoying figuring it out as we go, honing our DIY skills on the occasional flower bed and building ourselves a yurt on the other side of the property (you'll have the whole west half to yourself). Right now we are set up to offer dry-camping only. We're keeping rates low -- we want to share this land! But also, we want to hear from you as you explore and learn this little property. We welcome your pictures, stories of discovery, etc. We mostly live offsite but one of us, Margot, is just up the road in case you need anything. The whole west end of the property is yours (The east end, on the other side of the driveway, has a yurt that might be occupied with us or with renters). We've made a pad of wood chips for your cushy comfort - or feel free to pitch your tent on the grass. You can drive you RV back to the site, or stick to the super level drive. Tell us what works for you! Margot has a cabin about a mile away, and will be on hand to answer questions, offer assistance, etc. Messaging within the app, via text, or via phone will all get a quick response during your stay, so feel free to communicate however you prefer. For toileting, there's tucked-back privacy for when you'd like to "water the grass." And for depositing solids, a serviced HoneyBucket sits in the middle of the property, for your use as well as for those of us working (or staying at) the yurt. You'll need to carry in your own water, and carry out your trash. This is leave-no-trace camping, including whatever your doggie, um, deposits. Thank you!
