Other things to note ❄️ CRITICAL WINTER TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS (NOV - DEC) • 4WD/AWD Mandate: Due to our high-altitude location, a 4WD or AWD vehicle is strictly required to reach the cabin during snowy months. • The Terrain: The final half-mile of the forest road is long, steep, and can become incredibly slick with packed snow and ice. We highly recommend carrying tire chains in your vehicle as an extra precaution. • Safety First: Please drive slowly, use low gears, and prioritize safety when making the final mountain climb to your basecamp. 🥾 THE CENTENNIAL TRAIL ACCESS (14.7-MILE PAVED PATH) • Prime Location: Our cabin sits about 1 mile off the state highway, placing you right near the midpoint of the famous Centennial Trail. • Outdoor Recreation: This scenic, 14.7-mile fully paved path runs all the way from Woodland Park to Manitou Lake—making it a local favorite for morning walks, runs, or bike rides. 🚗 SMART TRAIL ACCESS & PARKING TIP • Skip the Climb: If you want to enjoy the trail without the steep, high-altitude walk back up the cabin road afterward, you can park your vehicle directly on Forest Road 339 near the trail and highway intersection. It’s the perfect setup for a seamless morning wander!
