It has details you NEED TO KNOW before booking. The Space The Lookout is on 1.25 acres of beautiful southern AZ land atop the highest hill in the J-6 Ranchettes. You will be staying inside our remodeled one-bedroom Jayco Designer 32' Trailer which has a shower, toilet, a furnished kitchen, Wi-Fi, two flat screen TVs (each with a Roku), hot water, a water cooler, a DVD player (with a small collection), and a refrigerator/freezer. Outside we have provided you with a Weber three burner grill, two fire pits, locally sourced firewood, a 1/3 mile, on-property private hiking trail which can be enjoyed day or night, a shaded picnic table and more! Working water - Yes Hot water - Yes Shower - Yes Kitchen - Yes Wi-Fi – Yes Private - Yes Off Grid- Yes Firewood - Yes Guest access Guest Access You will have exclusive use of the entire property. There will be an electronic lock on the front door of the trailer and its code will be provided so you will not need a key. Other things to note You will be living off grid which means that most of your power will come from a Westinghouse 3500 propane powered generator that you will be responsible for turning on upon your arrival and off when you leave. The generator is powerful enough to provide you with ample power and runs quietly. On occasion however, if there is significant strain on the system, especially when the AC is running, the breaker and/or the generator might trip. In this case you simply have to restart the generator and/or reset the breaker. You will also have access to only 55-gallons of fresh water for your entire stay. This may sound like a lot, but please consider that the average US at-home shower utilizes over 16 gallons of water! We strongly encourage water conservation while using the water amenities. Also, the hot water is tankless 'on-demand' which means that there will be a small delay for the furnace to activate each time. Please take this into consideration when using hot water. Safe maintenance and observation of your fire is EXTREMELY important. There is a lot of brush in the area that is flammable and even a small errant ember can cause destruction. There are two functioning fire extinguishers on site; one inside and one outside. Please exercise responsible action when using the fire pits. The Lookout is butted up against hundreds of acres of state land. State land means wilderness. Wilderness means wildlife. Please exercise caution with regard to wildlife in the area. Javelinas, deer, coyotes, rattlesnakes, and even black bears have been known to be seen in the area. Please be careful with you and your pets. Arizona is a land with interesting weather. Most of the time at The Lookout it is temperate, calm, sunny, and dry. However, being at the top of a hill means that a few times during the day you should expect wind gusts. If you are caught there in the middle of a storm we can almost guarantee wind gusts. Also, because The Lookout is so far from the heat sink that is a city, temperature changes from day to night are greater than you may be used to. Afternoons can be very warm, especially in the summer as nights can be very cold, especially in the winter. Thankfully, you will have both heat and AC. It is recommended that if you expect the day to be warm, please close all windows and run the AC starting in the morning so that the unit does not need to cool down a very warm trailer. We have an on-site holding tank that you will not have to worry about. However, please refrain from putting anything down the drains and/or toilet that doesn't belong (food, trash, ect.) and only use the toilet paper that is provided. Feel free to ask us any questions that you may have!
