Vaux-Varennes Castle 2 bedrooms with breakfast.
Description
Enjoy the natural setting of the Champagne countryside by booking your stay in our family castle. 30 minutes from Reims and 2 hours from Paris, this historic residence will charm you with its character and tranquility. We offer 2 bedrooms (upstairs) and breakfast, renovated in historical styles, and a living room, all in a completely private wing of the castle. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the castle's 6-hectare park and observe chickens, peacocks, and sheep. The space The Château de Vaux Varennes is a building dating from 1833, built on the site of 2 former fortresses. The history of these places is very rich: in addition to its presence since around the 1200s, the castle housed an ambulance (hospital near the front) during the 14-18 war. The decoration of the rooms reminds us of the passing of time with 1930s furniture for one: this is Virginia's room, as she might have left it to us in 1930, when she lived in the castle with her husband, Jean Jacquy, then operator of the adjoining farm. The bed is 160 cm wide and 200 cm long. For very tall people, it's very easy to remove the wooden part of the footboard. The other room is that of Aimée Louise, the wife of Victor Forquenot de la Fortelle, who built the present castle in the years 1820-1833. The furniture is empire style with twin beds 1 meter wide and 195 cm long (can be pushed together) and a canopy. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire 6 ha park. The "Bouvancourt" stream flows freely. Two islands are nestled in the middle of the water. During your stay Please don't hesitate to contact me by message, email or phone for any information. Once you're with us, I'd love to tell you the story of this home. Other things to note There is no protection around the pond at the back of the castle. You must therefore be very vigilant in the presence of children.
