Comfy & Cozy Mountain Retreat
Description
If you want the best location to base your Alaska vacation from, this is it! The sleepy town of Girdwood is the home of Mt. Alyeska Ski Resort and this two-story condominium unit offers convenience, comfort and an incredible vista from its semi-private and spacious rooftop deck. Walk out the door for hiking, dining and exploring this world-renowned town that draws people from all over the globe. You won't want to leave.... PLEASE NOTE: You must climb 3 flights of stairs to access the property! The space Fully furnished with all the comforts of home, this space is perfect for adults and older children who want the convenience of having a "base camp" for exploring South Central Alaska. PLEASE NOTE: It is on the top level of a 3-story building, so no one is above you and the views from the deck are fabulous, BUT all guests will have to climb stairs to access the unit. (There is also a spiral staircase required to access bedrooms and bathroom, hence the property is not suitable for young children or anyone with mobility issues.) You will have everything needed to cook, relax and sleep when you are not experiencing the trails, views, wildlife and cuisine that are so easily accessed from your doorstep. Enjoy a cocktail on the expansive semi-private rooftop deck with panoramic views. Build a fire in the fireplace or step out on your private balcony to look for Northern Lights. Walk 2 minutes to the Bake Shop for their famous Cinnamon Roll in the morning, or 2 minutes in another direction for fine evening dining at Jack Sprat, Trip Advisor's #1 rated restaurant in the area. Literally walk out the door to hike up North Face and then ride the Alyeska Aerial Tram down after enjoying the views and cuisine at the top of a world class ski mountain. Another short walk takes you to Alyeska Resort, Alaska's premier year-round destination for adventure, dining and relaxation. Rent a bike from nearby Powder Hound Ski & Cyclery to access the 17-mile "Gird to Bird" trail with unforgettable views. Choose from dozens of possible hiking trails without ever getting in your car. Or hop in the car for a short drive to Portage Glacier and Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Maybe take a daytrip to Seward and experience the beauty of Kenai Fjords National Park. You will be hard pressed to find a more comfortable or conveniently located place to "come home to" after enjoying everything that the area has to offer! Guest access This condominium unit is completely private and available to guests, other than one small locked closet and the rooftop deck. One other unit has access to the same deck, but this owner has NEVER come across anyone else on the deck since buying the property in 2001. Other things to note There is a coin-operated washer/dryer unit on the main floor of the condominium building. Bring quarters and detergent if you will need to do laundry! (Apologies for the fact that there is a small washer/dryer inside of the unit, BUT it is not currently available for guest use.)
