Description
Oakdene is a family friendly cottage, built in 1900 and renovated in 2023. The cottage sleeps up to 8 people, with living spaces both indoor and outdoor, new bathrooms and kitchen, wood fire and air-conditioning for comfort. Nestled between the Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley and Murray River, Oakdene is the perfect base to explore or just relax and reconnect with nature. Weddings and events can be hosted, please email to enquire about availability. The space Bedrooms: All three bedrooms are large in size, with ceiling fans and ducted reverse cycle air conditioning. Bedroom 1 - Queen size bed Bedroom 2 - Queen size bed Bedroom 3 - Twin King Single beds which are easily pushed together plus 2 single trundle beds. Lounge room: A cozy central lounge room with access to Bedroom 1 and the kitchen, a wood fire and digital television. Perfect for relaxing, board games or a glass of wine. There is a fold out bed in the lounge suite in this room also. Kitchen: Brand new kitchen equipped with a full size fridge, induction cook top, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee machine and dining table that seats 6-8 comfortably. The kitchen also has access to the side verandah with the BBQ and fire pit. Crockery and basic cook wear are available for use. Bathrooms: The main bathroom is brand new with a shower, full size bath and toilet. The second bathroom is also brand new with a shower and toilet. Guest access Outdoor areas: There are two verandah's at the cottage to allow you to enjoy being outside in all seasons. The first is accessed from the kitchen of the cottage with a fire pit and seating. The second enjoys sweeping views of the farm and valley towards the Murray River, the deck includes a large outdoor table and seating undercover so you can relax and enjoy a meal or watch the children play on the paved or lawn areas. The paddock adjacent to the house yard is great to explore, walk to the old Oak tree that the cottage is named after or walk amongst the sheep when they're in the paddock. Please do not chase or harass the livestock, and ensure you close any gates that you may go through. Driving in the paddocks is not allowed. The new wing of the property is for exclusive use of the owners and can not be accessed during your stay. There will be no guests using the wing during your stay in the cottage. Other things to note There is plenty to do in the area on weekends, some of our favourite things are: Mt Pleasant farmers market is open on Saturday's until 2pm where you can buy fresh local produce, and meet members of the local community. Essentials nearby: Supermarket - Kloses' Foodland in Birdwood Petrol station - Liberty as you exit Birdwood from Adelaide Bakery - Lobethal bakery in Birdwood, Mt Pleasant bakery for baked goods or coffee Cafes - there are more and more opening all the time one of our favourites is The Good Pantry in Gumeracha Wineries & Gin - Lobethal Road wines in Mt Torrens or Applewood distillery in Gumeracha or Robbers Dog in Mt Pleasant The cottage is completely run on rainwater - please be mindful of your water usage during your stay. Waste water is captured in a septic tank, so please observe the rules around what can be flushed or go down the drain.
