This wonderful river town is picturesque, rich in history, and packed with beautiful tourist attractions. This 2.9 square mile village attracts residents with a penchant for the arts, as the village’s quaint downtown is filled with eclectic shops and restaurants in all price ranges. Hastings-on-Hudson owns 11 parks and fields for sports, but its biggest recreational draw is access to the Old Croton Aqueduct Trailway that follows the path of an aqueduct used to bring water from the Croton River to New York City during the 18th and 19th centuries. It runs 26 miles from its northernmost point, Croton Gorge Park, south to Van Cortlandt Park, affording spectacular views of the Palisades and Hudson River along the way. You will often find folks walking their dogs, going for a run, or even bike riding on the trail! Stop by the Saturday farmers market (late May through mid-November) which offers local farm fresh produce and goods straight from the Hudson Valley, as well as providing education and inspiring the community about the benefits of local farming and sustainable practices. The downtown area features delicious places to eat such as Bread & Brine, Boro6 Wine Bar and Taiim Falafel Shack but if you have a sweet tooth, Penny Lick is the place to go for yummy homemade ice cream. For those with gluten sensitivities, By the Way Bakery has the most delectable baked goods in New York! For a romantic evening, Harvest on Hudson will not disappoint as this famous Italian restaurant offers incredible food set in an old-school restaurant featuring quaint decor, an elegant ambiance and spectacular sunset views of the Palisades. In the summer you can enjoy live outdoor music at the Hastings-on-Hudson Sunset Concert Series, one of downtown’s Welcome Back outdoor dining events, or Hastings on Jazz concerts. Love the water?
