Whether you’re exploring the grounds or relaxing in the serene setting, it’s a place to unwind and reconnect with nature. The space The miller’s house dates to 1850 and sits beside Aythorpe Roding Windmill — the largest post mill in Essex, with origins in 1615 and the current working structure built around 1779. Set on over 2 acres of private gardens, the house has been recently refurbished with all the comforts of home. You’ll have four large bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen/diner, utility room, dining room, a cosy snug, and a spacious lounge with two wood-burning stoves — perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the countryside. Wildlife lovers will enjoy regular visits from deer, badgers, foxes, and pheasants. Depending on the season, help yourself to apples, plums, figs, and greengages from the garden trees — and don’t be surprised if a friendly robin joins you on your walk. Tours of the windmill and roundhouse can be arranged on request — just ask! We’re also close to several wedding venues and only 9 miles from Stansted Airport, making this a convenient yet peaceful escape. Guest access Guests will have full exclusive access to the spacious house and gardens, as well as access to footpaths surrounding the grounds. Please feel free to take a leisurely walk a little further afield, great walks are available and the local pub is only a short walk over the field. There is free wifi for guests and ample on-site parking for a least 6 cars. Other things to note There is a small pond onsite that is not enclosed and small children will need to be supervised.
