Welcome to the Treshnish Shepherd’s Hut. Our charming hut sits in the corner of a field - stunning sea and island views. A perfect place to unwind and relax. Inside the well insulated hut, there is a 4’ small double bed at one end, a tiny wood stove, table and chairs, kitchenette and an ensuite shower at the other end. Outside, there is a wood -fired outdoor bath and a wood-fired pizza oven. Treshnish is a working sheep farm, on the coast, nr Calgary Beach, great for walking and exploring. The space The Treshnish Shepherd's Hut has wonderful views out to sea, with the Isle of Coll on the horizon and the Isles of Rum and Skye in the distance. It has a wild garden with a table and chairs for outdoor dining, and 2 Adirondack chairs for sitting and soaking in those glorious view. There is a wood-fired bath and an outdoor wood-fire pizza oven - for evenings in the sun, enjoying the views and the sunsets, slowing right down as you tend the fire to heat the water for your outdoor bath. Inside the hut, there is a 4' small double bed with storage underneath, a comfortable bench/settee, a table and chairs and a tiny but efficient wood burning stove. The hut is well insulated, warm and cosy. The kitchenette is well equipped for cooking simple meals on 2 ceramic hobs. (There is also a fridge, kettle and toaster) There is a wood-fired pizza oven outside, with a cast iron Dutch oven pot for stews and casseroles. The en-suite shower-room is at the other end of the hut, with shower. Treshnish is a working sheep farm, managed to protect wildlife and to enhance biodiversity. We encourage natural regeneration of the rare Celtic rainforest and have a careful grazing regime to support ground nesting birds and to protect rare plant species in our wild flower meadows. There is a popular walking route on the farm, called the Treshnish Headland Walk, which follows the coast and affords wonderful views - to 17 Hebridean islands! Guest access The Shepherds Hut has its own private garden with wood fired bath, and wood fired pizza oven - plus table/chairs and 2 handsome Adirondack chairs. Guests have a parking space behind the farm building, with a wheel barrow to help you carry your luggage 300m across the field to the hut. Please remember we are remotely located on an island, and whilst a car isn't essential it makes life easier! If you want to come by public transport you will need to pre-book a journey with the Ulva Ferry Community Transport bus. Contact them for details and costs.. Other things to note Planning your slow adventure at the Treshnish Shepherd's Hut on the Isle of Mull: There are ferries every day from Oban to Craignure, from Lochaline to Fishnish and from Kilchoan to Tobermory. You need to pre-book the Oban to Craignure one. The other two routes do not need to be booked in advance. For tickets and timetables please go to the Calmac website. It is possible to come by public transport but you need to prepare/plan beforehand and pre-book seats with the Ulva Ferry Community Transport. Our hut is an hour's drive from the ferry terminal at Craignure. Access to the hut: Guests have to walk 300m across a field from their car parking space in the farm yard to the hut. We advise you arrive in daylight and bring a torch. Quick hot shower: Because of the compact nature of a Shepherd's Hut the hot water tank is not very big. There is enough capacity for a 5 minute shower. It takes about an hour to reheat the tank. Outdoor bathing: But the outdoor bath, which is spacious and comfortable, provides lots of hot water once you have got the fire going. Full instructions are in the hut, but please ask if you have any issues lighting it! Dogs: Because this is a working farm we ask that you keep your dog on a lead.
