Nestled amongst the trees on our 52 acre farm in beautiful Chisholm township is our Chickadee Pod. Recharge your nature batteries in our off grid pod that comes fully equipped for your basic needs and right on Wasi Lake. Steps away you can enjoy canoeing, stand up paddle boarding and kayaking. Take in the sunsets, walk the trails, nap in the hammock, roast some marshmallows, paint a picture, read a book, listen to the birds, the trees, the wind. Leave connected, peaceful and rejuvenated. The space Wistiwasing Farms is a 52 acre farm located on Wasi Lake in the beautiful township of Chisholm Ontario. We are professions chefs and hobby farmers who have a passion for combining the love of cooking, nature, family and farming. We believe in conserving and taking care of our environment and sharing the beauty of this place with you. The Wistiwasing Chickadee Pod was built by the Algonquin Pod Company located in Barry's Bay Ontario. This unit is small but mighty which includes everything you need for the "glamping" experience. During the winter months, enjoy the outdoors with cross country skiing, snowshoeing and ice fishing right on Wasi Lake just steps from your pod. Cross country groomed trails 15 minutes away. OFSC trail 5 minutes away and can travel on road to trails. Snow shoe rentals available upon request. ($15 per pair) We have teamed up with local company Sisu Adventures to offer our guests Kicksled fun (available on Thursdays ask us for more info) If the weather cooperates, we do our best to make an ice rink for skating on Wasi Lake. Bring your own ice fishing gear - lake is good for walleye, perch and pike! Guests will park in designated parking lot in driveway. To get to your pod, you will have to follow the trail and signs. A wagon is provided for your belongings. If more help is needed, please reach out to us and we will do the best we can to assist if we are available. The trail has a moderate hill, some rocks and tree roots - please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for camping and hiking Here is what is included: A comfy double bed - we provide 2 pillows, mattress cover and fitted sheet. *GUESTS NEED TO BRING OWN SLEEPING BAG/BLANKETS Winter Months - Propane heat is provided between October and April only Snowshoes are available to rent Small dining table that can extend for that game night or puzzle Bathroom is equipped with a wash sink with hand pump for water, hand soap, hand towel, toilet paper, waste bin and composting toilet. *When urine compartment of toilet is full guest MUST contact us for disposal and replacement. Please no hygiene products in toilet - dispose in garbage can ***Please note: there is no shower*** Cribbage board, cards, games and puzzles for those rainy days Crank/battery radio An 8x10 deck with muskoka chairs perfect for morning coffees or taking in the stars at night. A BBQ is provided for your cooking needs along with a campfire pit (if no fire ban is in effect). BBQ utensils and propane are provided. *Guests need to bring cooking gear, plates, cups and utensils along with your food & pantry items. *We offer breakfast, lunch and dinner take out meal packages. We have a certified kitchen/trailer that we use to cook. We make our own bread, preserves, condiments, sauces, raise our own meat, grow produce or purchase from our local farmer friends. Please inquire for our availability - at least 48 hr notice is required along with prepayment. Our farmstand is stocked on Saturday and Sundays with bakery items, frozen soups and meals, snacks & dips and more. A screened in tent (summer) with table is equipped with wash basin, dish soap and cloth for washing up after cooking and eating. Also great for getting away from the many flying insects. We strongly suggest bug spray (please spray yourself OUTSIDE) We are surrounded by bodies of water (Wasi River & Wasi Lake) which breed many insects. We provide bug jackets - because you never know how bad they will be May, June and July are high on the bug list, August, September & October they decline. Please hang up on hook inside pod when done using. A $50 charge will apply if taken, damaged or missing. Fire wood, paper and lighter are provided for your campfire. A bucket is provided for you to douse the fire when you are finished or leaving the area. In the summer, we have extensive raised garden beds, greenhouse and garden pavilion located at the main house. We have events and specialty brunch & dinners throughout the summer months. First aid kit Battery operated lights and fan provided - NO HYDRO For international guests please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your camping needs. ***Please remember that this is an off grid pod, with no running water, no electricity and no internet. Heat is provided by propane heater from November to April only. Please watch the weather and bring appropriate warm sleeping bags, blankets, clothing and footwear *** ***No pets are allowed - we are a working farm with animals and a catering business Guest access Guests have shared access to all trails and to the lake Other things to note Hosts live on site We have 2 SUP + paddles, Canoe + paddles, 2 kayaks (1x 12ft, 1x14ft) + paddles available for rent. $50 each per day which includes life jackets. Guests must sign waiver. Advance booking preferred. Guests will check in with us upon arrival and sign a waiver form You are located in the bush - wild animals could potentially visit. DO NOT LEAVE food outside of your pod Potable water is provided -- if more is needed feel free to contact us for a refill The filming or photography of property and grounds cannot be used for publication unless approved by owners There is another pod rental along our forest trail - please be mindful of other guests and be respectful of their experience and space. Please leave the pod and property the same as you arrived - we hope you enjoy your stay!
