Perched on a bluff above the Mississippi River and 15 minutes from downtown Galena, Elizabeth, and Hanover, this is the perfect combination of relaxation and fun. Watch beautiful sunsets over the Mississippi. This one-of-a-kind house was built around a converted vintage Airstream. Talk about character! What people love about our house: -Remote and cozy, but also close to Galena, wineries, Chestnut Mountain, and more -The one-of-a-kind retro and unique vibe -Very private -Fully furnished with plenty of amenities including wifi Main room: Lots of windows with views of the Mississippi, a tv with antenna, steaming apps you can login to, DVD player and a selection of DVDs. Board games, cards, and coloring books provided. Relax with a sitting chair and couch. The couch pulls out to a queen bed to accommodate up to two additional sleeping spaces. Bedroom: The bedroom includes a queen bed (sleeps 2), comforter, desk and chair, closet, luggage rack, and views of the river - perfect for a writer’s retreat. Ear plugs are provided if the freight train becomes a bother. Bathroom and vanity: Toilet, shower, sink, and vanity. Linens, soap and shampoo provided. This is the original bathroom and bedroom section of the Airstream. There are lots of cabinets for storage. Kitchen: Electric range/oven, vintage Airstream refrigerator, kitchen sink and counter, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, plate-ware, utensils, and cookware. No dishwasher. Dish soap provided. Dinette seats four. TV-trays provided for additional dining options. Porch: The outdoor porch seating with river views is perfect for coffee, wine, or both! Bugs: Please note this is a cabin in the woods, we have a pest control service that does their best but there may be bugs outside the property and a few may get inside. For outdoors, bring bug spray, vanilla works on gnats in the spring season. We find it to be a great spot in the woods, but with the woods comes some bugs. Grill: We do not have a grill on the property. If you bring your own grill, please do not use it on the wooden deck. Cameras: There are no cameras on this property Wifi: Wifi works well with multiple devices, stream and work from here with ease! Important to note: -A freight train runs nearby, which can be loud at times -We provide wifi and most cellular phones receive 2-3 bars -The restroom (shower/toilet) is cozy (aka, small) due to original Airstream footprint -The roads surrounding the home are gravel -One parking space is available but contact owner for options for additional cars -There are 2 steps to access the property -The water line is fed from a distance so shower pressure can be light at times -No boat/river access from this house, but there is a public boat launch nearby - you can launch and store a boat/trailer there per their regulations -The well water from the tap has been tested and is safe to drink, but feel free to bring in your own gallons of water for coffee, etc - The original airstream fridge has a small "chiller" that keeps small amounts of items frozen, but it is not a full freezer Entire House Wooded area looking out on Mississippi River, dotted with small cabins Perched on a bluff above the Mississippi River and 15 minutes from downtown Galena, Elizabeth, and Hanover, this is the perfect combination of relaxation and fun.
