Description
This cottage is set on the edge of Newnham Green and is one of the oldest cottages, dating back to the early 1500s. It is chocolate box cute, with roses around the door and filled with antiques and vintage furniture and homewares. The village pub is a short walk across the green and Tylney Hall is 10 minutes walk away and there are lots of walks to local pubs. We have a football goal, a trampoline and a table tennis table outside and a pool table and darts board as well as a log burning stove. The space Although the cottage is 500 years old and still has the original woodwork, beams and lime plaster, it also has all the modern comforts you'd expect in a cosy cottage. The living room has oak herringbone floor and beams, a wood burning stove, comfortable sofas and a piano to relax in the evenings. The dining room seats 10 for convivial evening meals. The kitchen has a glass box extension with a small marble topped table to have informal meals looking at the kites flying overhead. There is a large electric range cooker in the kitchen as well as a separate electric oven, as well as all the tools you'd find in your own kitchen such as a mixer, a blender, a coffee grinder and even a pasta machine if you're feeling adventurous. The kitchen is a convivial space to cook and spend time together. There is a study with a generous desk for those who need a space to work. There are plenty of board games to keep you busy too. Both double rooms have feather and down pillows and duvets and exceptionally comfortable beds. The master bedroom has a shower and a separate roll top bath. The family bathroom has an additional bath. There are 2 king rooms and 2 further rooms, one with a single bed and one with twin. We also have an oak framed barn room which has a separate TV area with L shaped sofa, pool table and darts room. The barn also houses another WC and the laundry facilities. We have furnished the house with vintage and antique furniture and homewares and we hope you feel at home there. There are some cupboards in which we keep some of our items but these are generally locked and everything you find in the kitchen you are welcome to use - there's nothing more annoying than arriving somewhere and needing to find some salt or spices. The village is a friendly place and you are just 30 minutes drive from Jane Austen's home, Beaulieu Motor Museum is a short drive, as is the New Forest. Guest access We would ask that children are not to use the pool table or darts board without supervision. They are both easy to damage.
