Your artists hosts Christophe and Elena welcome you to "Maïsou Dougnac"! Newly renovated 120 sq. m. two-story house is spacious, comfortable, secured and private. Tucked away in the last vestige of unspoiled nature of the Pyrenees Mountains park, the PNR, it is only 13 km from a town of Saint-Girons, the heart of the Couserans. Its privileged location in a hamlet of 20 houses is only a few minutes by car from all amenities and is steps away from your unmatched authentic experiences of SW France. The space MAIN FLOOR: - Main floor's living room/dining room is 43 sq. m., it's very convivial area with two couches and an armchair in the salon. The dining area has a table which seats 8 guests. The living room/dining room is equipped with internet, Wi-Fi. The wood stove is decorative - The kitchen is 17sq. m. includes 2 counters with ample surface area, table with 3 chairs, a dishwasher, gas stove, a small fridge and a toaster. It opens onto a veranda. The laundry room is separate. ON THE SECOND FLOOR the house has 3 bedrooms: - master bedroom: with double bed, the independent bathroom is right next to it - yellow bedroom: with double bed - blue bedroom: with office corner and 1 single bed - bathroom: with enamelled cast iron tub, sink and toilet. For sustainable water supply ecological and economical usage of water in rigour. The decoration of each room is done with authentic objects; you will find all the necessary comfort without the standards of the famous yellow and blue brand. EXTERIOR: - secured front and backyards, one with West exposure and the other South-East exposure with exterior furniture, etc. (sun parasols, BBQ, clothing lines.) RENT: 2 nights minimum / number of beds are made for number of people on the reservation / extra guests should be booked 48 hours prior to arrival. PRIVACY: Conveniently positioned in an isolated hamlet of 20 houses on a small road, at the mouth of the valley, the house simultaneously offers you privacy without vis-à-vis at the back of the house. A service window from the kitchen to the back terrace offers you intimacy and conviviality. FOOD SHOPPING AND EATING OUT: You can buy your daily fresh bread off the bread truck which passes through Saint-Sernin before lunch at 11.30 am. In order to shop for food or eat out nearby, please be prepared to take a few minutes drive to the neighbouring village of Soueix-Rogalle. There is a vegetable market every Wednesday after 3.30 pm, a pizza place, hamburgers at "Chez Polo" by the river Salat, and you can also rent your bikes in the village. Village of Vic d'Oust is a bit further down has a great "Vival" store on the highway. You can also have lunch at the traditional French restaurant "Le Garbet" 3.4 km away in Oust, the village also has a small bakery. Seix is under 5 km away, and it has its famous bakery as well a "Casino" food store and more choices to eat out, a restaurant, a bar and a brasserie. For your fine dining locally, we highly recommend the unassuming "Hostellerie de la Poste" in Oust. For your high altitude dining we recommend "Chalet de Beauregard" in Guzet 28 km away. The restaurant "Le Carre de l'Ange" in Saint-Lizier 17 km away offers high cuisine and a panoramic view from the top of UNESCO heritage site. THINGS TO DO: Located 120 km South of Toulouse Blagnac Airport, 129 km from Andorra, this house is a hidden gem. Backed by the border ridges of Spain, it is ideally situated in the centre of Saint-Sernin hamlet at 450 m altitude in the heart of the PNR - Regional Natural Park of the Ariege Pyrenees; 13 km from St. Girons, less than 5 km from Seix and 26 km from the ski station Guzet. Perfect for bike riding, hiking, horse riding, kayaking, speleology, skiing, mountain climbing, rock climbing, paragliding, swimming and fishing. There's a nearby skate park, a fantastic local farmers market. Famous PNR sites include Aulus-les-Bains, Massat, Mas d'Azil cave, mountain lake Etang de Lers, the Ars waterfall, the Mont Valier. Other famous touristic locations are: the medieval fortress of Saint-Lizier (only 17 km away) is dominated by the 17th century Bishop's Palace, the underground river and cave Labouiche, the Château of Foix, the Château of Montsegur, the center of the Cathars. The caves of Niaux have exceptional prehistoric paintings, the Tarascon Prehistoric Park is also the essential place to discover, young or old. The commune of Mirpoix boasts many beautiful sights not to be missed. The artist's village of Carla-Bayle offers art exhibitions; it is our Saint-Tropez of Ariege. You will find great service and detailed trails maps as well as all other information about touristic activities at the nearby tourism office in Seix.
