Description

The Artist Studio on Orcas Island is available only for rental stays of at least one month. This immaculate first floor of an historic barn-turned-home has plenty of light, private deck for sunsets, peek-a-boo water view and six serene acres of woods, orchard, gardens to wander. Five-minute drive or 20 minute walk to Eastsound. Perfect to explore the island on creative retreat or remote work adventure (excellent high speed internet). Minimum stay is 30 days, maximum is 60 days. The space Welcome to Orcas Island! The studio is a lovely 850 square foot space on the elevated first floor of an historic barn-turned-home near the bottom of Buck Mountain. Windows line the south and west-facing walls of the studio providing loads of beautiful natural light. One-bedroom, one bathroom, two private entrances, private laundry room, french doors in the living room open to the deck. Plenty of closet and cabinet space. Rock Island fiber optic internet provides reliable, high-speed internet and wi-fi. Your remote work, including Zoom meetings, will be seamless and uninterrupted. Kitchen with full refrigerator, gas stove, porcelain sink, sandstone counters, microwave, coffee makers (French press and auto drip), teapot, fully stocked dishes, flatware, pots & pans, utensils, etc. Bathroom with walk-in tiled shower, rain and hand-held shower heads. Picture windows look out to the treetops. An easel is provided for painters. There is a small art supply shop on the island with a limited selection of brushes, paints and canvases. You’re also welcome to have your art supplies shipped here, contact Laura for shipping details. A Lopi gas-burning woodstove in the living room space provides extra cozy heat and pretty flames during the autumn, winter and spring months. We live on the second floor of the home with our own separate entrance. In 2023, we had sound-proof insulation installed in the studio’s ceiling and walls to minimize noise. You will hear our muffled-sounding footsteps (and sometimes our happy Siberian Forest kitten chasing a laser light) but the noise has been greatly reduced. Other things to note Very close to the island’s vibrant center, Eastsound is just a 5-minute drive or 20-30 minute walk. Please read house rules for a pet. Limit one cat or one dog. Must be house-trained, on-leash when outside. No aggressive dog breeds, please. Pet deposit required.
