Welcome to our quirky 16th-century home, just yards from the River Waveney and at the heart of this ancient town. Stroll to great cafés, restaurants, and pubs, or explore the river by boat, kayak, or paddleboard. We serve a continental breakfast to start your day right. Our only aim is to make you feel at home. The space Step into history at Flemish House, a 400-year-old merchant’s home that’s as charming as it is unique. Nestled on a street lined with historic buildings, our house is a little landmark in itself—often admired by passersby! Once part of a thriving riverside trade, it sits just moments from scenic walks, independent shops, great restaurants, and friendly pubs. Inside, the house is full of character, with its quirky, rambling layout offering plenty of privacy. Guests often say it’s Tardis-like—much bigger inside than it appears from the street! 'Tania's is a great place to stay to explore Beccles - which is a lovely town - or to go further afield, such as to the beautiful Suffolk coast...The house is really charming and the bedroom and bathroom are tastefully decorated and well furnished. Guest access You are welcome to use our courtyard to enjoy tea or coffee in the morning in warmer seasons. There is also a private sitting room with TV on the second floor, please note the stairs are steep and narrow so this won't suit everyone but we can usually relocate the TV with prior notice. Please ask if you'd like a radio in the room for your visit. During your stay We are usually here as we run our own businesses from home, so will preferably be here to welcome you, if not you will receive full instructions for entering and finding everything. We provide a continental style breakfast tray to your room, and if you want advice on places to go or things to do please ask. We have 2 smallish dogs, Otto & Pickle, who are very excited to welcome new people (we are working on keeping them calm!) but they are very friendly. They are also of the non-moulting hypo-allergenic variety but we can't guarantee there won't be muddy footprints in the hall sometimes! If we are away for any reason, we have the lovely Ruth, our neighbour looking out for you. There is also access via a key box if one of us is unable to be here to greet you. We will normally be contactable via the app in emergencies. We will also leave plenty of supplies for your breakfast if we are not able to deliver it personally! Other things to note Tea and coffee-making facilities provided in your room. Continental breakfast of pastries, fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereals, with fresh ground coffee or a pot of tea, will be provided in the morning. Gluten Free/Dairy Free available with prior arrangement.
