The Fold - idyllic remote riverside shepherd’s hut
Description
Secluded off-grid shepherd's hut with wood-fired hot tub, meadow views, riverside setting. The perfect place to unwind and relax. The space @_the_fold Our bespoke off-grid shepherd's hut is kitted out like a small but perfectly formed boutique hotel room, sleeping 2 people with a king sized bed, White Company bedding and handmade cushions and furnishings - all you need for a good night’s sleep! The Fold is wonderfully secluded in a field that lies alongside the meandering river Perry, on a grassy meadow we know as "The Flash". With views over the river and the fields beyond this is the ideal place to get away from all the stresses of modern day life with an off-grid experience whilst maintaining a little bit of luxury in our self-built shepherd’s hut. The Fold has sole occupancy of The Flash with no one overlooking you, and no neighbours (apart from the odd sheep at certain times of year!). Have your morning cup of tea listening to bird song, watching the resident swans glide down the river, and if you are lucky, spot the occasional kingfisher. In the evening you can enjoy a glass of fizz whilst soaking in our Kirami wood-fired hot tub or around the Kadai fire pit. The Fold is the perfect place to hang out in the summer or cosy up in the winter with the log burner. The Fold is kitted out with everything you need and furnished and finished to an impeccable standard. From the shepherd’s hut you will have access straight from the farm to the beautiful Shropshire countryside via a network of footpaths. As well as many local walks straight from the door The Fold is also a great springboard from which to explore the wider area including the Shropshire Hills and historic Shrewsbury, which is only a 10-15 minute drive away. Located in the tiny hamlet of Yeaton The Fold is only a 1.5 mile walk from the village of Baschurch which has a fantastic pub (The New Inn), several takeaways, farm shop and cafe as well as a well-stocked village shop and Post Office (Spar). The Fold has a bespoke fitted kitchen including an under counter fridge and double gas hob, large Belfast sink and plenty of storage. We provide some basics for cooking. Included in the kitchen is glassware, crockery and cutlery for 2 people. Also provided are chopping boards, knives, and pans etc for cooking. If you require any thing specific please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate this. In the main living area is a Charnwood wood-burning stove. This will be sure to keep you cosy during your stay on colder evenings. There is also a built-in seating area and table, perfect for both indoor eating and games - some board games are provided in the hut for you to enjoy. The bathroom has a hot shower, hand basin and top of the range waterless eco loo. Towels and robes are provided. The eco loo is slightly different to a domestic lavatory but much more sustainable. Outside there is a fenced garden which includes a top of the range Kirami wood fired hot tub (it may be possible to have this lit for your arrival - please let us know if you'd like to request this). This overlooks the picturesque meadow and has views of the river. The Fold's garden also includes a Kadai fire pit/BBQ, perfect for cooking or just gathering around to keep warm on a brisk evening. Logs for both of these are provided. You will also have access down to the river through the meadow. We provide robes but we do recommend bringing flip flops or suitable shoes for getting to and from the hot tub. Dogs - we are dog lovers and dogs are welcome at an additional charge of £30 per stay (up to 2 dogs). Please advise us of this at the time of booking. We ask that dogs are not allowed onto the bed or soft furnishings. As part of your stay you and your four-legged friends are welcome to walk around part of the farm – maps will be provided. Please respect the paths and do not walk on the crops. Also be mindful that it is a working farm with livestock and machinery. Please note that as The Fold is off-grid and all the power is generated by solar panels and stored in batteries. Whilst we are confident that there will be ample power for your stay, please use the electricity responsibly and turn off lights and chargers when not in use. There are modern USB charging sockets. We should be able to provide various charging cables if required. There is no mains electricity therefore hairdryers etc cannot be used. A kettle is provided for use on the gas hob. The Fold is complete with 4G wifi which is sufficient for keeping in touch with loved ones. Fly Fishing – For those who enjoy fly fishing The Fold is situated on a private 500m stretch of meandering river Perry (a tributary to the Severn) where wild brown trout , grayling and chub can be caught. Salmon Parr have even been spotted! Don’t miss this opportunity to fish on a private stretch of beautiful river which is not open to the public. You will need to bring your own tackle and will be responsible for your own rod license Guest access The Fold is set in a beautiful, remote and tranquil and location, which is around a 300m (7 minute) walk from the car parking space – a barrow is provided to help with this journey.
