A little less than a thirty minute drive and you can be in Boone where you can experience the feel of a “little big city.” Boone is the home of Appalachian State University and Samaritan’s Purse. Visit your App State student and have them out to Nights in Camelot for a peaceful mountain retreat. Close enough to everything yet out of the hustle and bustle of life. This home sits at 4200 feet above sea level and offers beautiful layered views of the surrounding mountains. At this altitude you can enjoy very pleasing cool temperatures year round and beautiful snow in the wintertime which can happen from late October through May. With no ambient light, the night sky is usually breath-taking with gorgeous sunsets and bright stars as you sit on the front second story deck in Amish made rocking chairs and a porch swing. With mature landscaping you’ll enjoy tall evergreens, hydrangeas and striking rhododendrons in several shades. Located on nearly an acre of gently sloping cleared land the front yard offers lots of potential for lawn games and the back deck looks out on some mighty oaks which are lit at night. You’ll experience lots of wildlife especially in the summertime. Chipmunks are fun to watch, dashing and darting and chasing each other around the yard. There are many varieties of birds, who will visit if you choose to feed them. You may see rabbits, squirrels and deer wander through the yard while you are enjoying the beauty seen from either the front or rear deck. Also enjoy time spent relaxing in the brand new hot tub or sitting around the stone firepit located off of the driveway with seating on solid wood timbers and picnic style benches. The main level of the home has a lovely vaulted tongue-in-groove ceiling and an open floor plan between the kitchen and living room. Beautiful views are yours from just about every window and door. Lots of glass to let in the beauty. Most of the furniture was custom hand-made by the Amish in Pennsylvania and brought directly to the home. There are many custom made barnwood cabinets and light fixtures throughout the home. The light fixture over the kitchen island is made from reclaimed beams from a barn built in the 1880s. A custom sliding barn style door separates the master bedroom from the master bath area. There is genuine leather furniture in front of the wood-burning stove and a 75" smart TV for family movie night! There is a superb sound system with a great receiver and a large subwoofer to get that theater experience while watching your favorite shows or movies. You can enjoy the Disney channel, Hulu, YouTube TV and Espn included with your stay. You can also log in to your Netflix, Amazon Prime or your other accounts on this TV. There is a DVD player and lots of movies for you to enjoy or you can bring your own. All TVs in the home are Smart TVs.
