The space This home has been a three-unit rental property for over 20 years. In 2021 and 2022, I converted two of the smaller apartments into Airbnbs: The Octopus Cottage and The Dragonfly Retreat. The main home, which houses The Dragonfly Retreat, was built in 1948 by a brick mason as his personal residence. It's a solid structure with 12-inch exterior walls and 6 to 7-inch interior walls in the main portion of the home. I made an effort to preserve as much of its original character as possible. The Dragonfly Retreat was renovated in 2022 and updated again in 2025. The Octopus Cottage, located at the very rear of the property, was built in 1967, renovated in 2023, and will be updated again by the end of 2025. The entire property is situated on three city lots, and I also acquired a corner lot. Both The Octopus Cottage and The Dragonfly Retreat offer private courtyards and off-street parking, designed to ensure guests have their own secluded spaces. They share similar amenities and are decorated with a mid-century modern flair. I've incorporated a collection of original and commercial artwork, along with various items I've collected throughout my life. I'm always refreshing the decor. I hope you enjoy your stay! Other things to note Dear Valued Guest, To help you enjoy your stay, we offer beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers for your use. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with one umbrella per guest. We kindly ask that you take good care of these items so that all guests can enjoy them. While we do our best to keep these items available, we cannot guarantee their availability at all times due to normal wear and tear. When you are finished using the chairs and umbrellas, please leave them outside your courtyards for other guests to use. We also appreciate your help in maintaining and cleaning these items before returning them. Regarding beach towels, please refrain from hanging wet towels on the fencing, as this can be unsightly for other guests. You are welcome to hang them within your courtyard furniture. For our smoking guests, please request an ashtray if one is not already provided in your courtyard. We kindly ask that you do not smoke inside the units or dispose of cigarette butts in the yard or on the artificial turf. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the units. Please be aware that if smoking occurs inside the apartments, you could be asked to leave the premises and have to pay a $250 cleaning and deodorizing fee will be applied.
