Customs Cottage

Customs Cottage is a delightful cottage, a short stroll from Teignmouth town centre, beaches, restaurants and bars and we have a parking space! We have just received 4 stars from Visit England! No need to drive anywhere, walk and enjoy the beach! Eat at fish restaurants, enjoy a drink at The Blue Anchor or The Ship Inn on Back Beach, or take a boat trip out for the day to go out the see seals and dolphins! Then return to the cottage to relax. We try our best to make your stay very enjoyable! The space Upon entering, guests find themselves in the open plan ground floor beach style kitchen, living and dining area, a cosy area with Freesat TV, two comfy sofas, a dining table and chairs and a well-equipped beach style hand painted kitchen with a dishwasher, washing machine and a coffee maker. On the first floor there is a twin bedroom with a lovely vintage wardrobe. On the landing stands a desk and chair and through the hallway is a brand new family bathroom. A book and games nook is tucked away under the stairs. A steep narrow staircase leads up to the large master bedroom with a king size iron bed and a brand new en-suite bathroom with toilet, washbasin and shower. You can enjoy river glimpses over Shaldon from the top floor. If you have visited the cottage before, you will find that the layout of the cottage has been changed, adding a family bathroom on the first floor and making the two bedrooms private. Outside there is a private parking space (an absolute necessity in Teignmouth in the Summer!) There is no facility at the cottage for charging an electric car. A bench provides seating next to a pretty flower border and there is a garden table and two folding chairs inside the front door. Original art by a local artist is displayed on all three floors priced and available to purchase should you wish. Customs Cottage has a fascinating history and is part of Old Teignmouth and is set in a conservation area. Guest access The whole house and drive. There is also a washing line behind the fence and a place to store surfboards, bicycles, etc. Other things to note Customs Cottage is not suitable for guests who are unable to climb stairs, as there is no bathroom on the ground floor. The stairs to the master bedroom on the top floor are steep and narrow, as the cottage is very old! The fire doors may be a little stiff, but also very necessary!
