Description

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. The bird song is out of this world with friendly Weka visiting everyday. This elevated, sheltered house is in the trees and has incredible views of North Cove, Kawau Island The space You will have full access to the house. There are neighbors nearby so please be respectful of them with your noise level. There are to be NO parties at Kawau Tree House. The house has an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area, as well as a covered outdoor dining area. There are 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a Queen bed and an en-suite. The second bedroom has a Queen bed and a single bed. The third bedroom has 2 sets of bunks, with a fold out double-sized bed on the bottom of one of the bunks. There is a portacot if you need it as well. Other things to note To access the home, there are 2 options. Option 1: You can be dropped off by the Kawau Cruises Ferry at our shared-ownership wharf, Starboard Wharf in North Cove. From there you would borrow the wharf wheelbarrows and bring your gear on the 600 meter walk to the base of our stairs. Please return the wheelbarrows to the wharf straight after you’ve used them. Park in the Sandspit car park which is next to Kawau Cruises office and the wharf. Currently parking is free. Book at least 24 hours prior. When booking, ask to be dropped off and picked up from Starboard Wharf Bay Hops can also be booked with Kawau Cruises to visit Mansion House Bay or the Kawau Boating Club. Option 2: You can bring your own boat up Starboard arm at high tide and park right at the base of our stairs. This is a tidal area and you will need to move your boat an anchor it out in line with Starboard Wharf to prevent it from sitting on the dry. You need at least 10 metres of chain. We have a mooring available if you prefer for $50 per day. You will know when you have arrived at our stairs when you see 2 hammocks in the trees, a small jetty to your left, with a camo kayak and a tender close by, and stairs going up to your right, with paddle boards bedside them. From the base of the stairs, you need to take your gear up the first flight of stairs, where you will find the base of our “travelator”. The electric trolley can then carry your belongings up to the house from there. There are approx 120 steps to climb to reach the house. The view when you get there is worth it!
