This is a true off grid experience. There is no electricity or running water at this cabin. There is a wood burning stove & foot pump sink with a rain water collection barrel. It’s a peaceful completely off-grid log cabin in the woods without a wire in sight. ..That happens to have amazing cell reception. 📞 The cabin features a rain collection barrel with a foot pump sink ( during non freezing months). It is operated by a floor pump located under the sink. The rain barrel water is for hand/ dish washing not drinking. Note: A cast iron wood burning stove becomes & stays very hot. The top surface can be used to boil water for tea in the kettle we provide. Nothing should ever be left on a wood burning stove. Even if it’s “off. ” cast iron gets and stays extremely hot for long periods of time. 🔥 🏮We supply a few lanterns. Battery and gas. Expect to bring at least one of your own + a flashlight. 🔥Bring your own propane/charcoal if you want to use the burners and grill. Recommend bringing your own rechargeable battery for phones and small electronics. While Cell phone reception is great, we recommend airplane mode to conserve battery life, and truly disconnect. The Sebasticook is a large and fast moving river. The “bay” in front of the cabin is calm water that’s fun to splash around in and around knee deep, but the middle of the river moves quickly. !Please keep in mind! this property is surrounded by water. If you plan to bring young children or pets we would advise bringing a life jacket that you know fits properly, especially if children cannot swim well! We have lifejackets available in various sizes including 1 for a medium to large dog upon request. Please inquire in advance if you would like to borrow one. 🛶Kayak rentals available, please feel free to inquire about rates, availability, and up river drop off options. ❄️In the cooler months, only experienced outdoor campers advised with proper cold weather gear, snowshoes, cold weather sleeping bags, and knowledge of how to work a wood burning stove. 🏥Though we do have a first aid kit, it’s advisable to bring your own safety gear and supplies.
