Description
Welcome to one of four apartments at the recently restored 18 century Palazzo Galli. With vaulted ceilings throughout, and the walls adorned with original artwork, the apartment is part of an artist repopulation initiative known as "The Fontecchio International Airport", launched in 2020 by American artist Todd Thomas Brown. Its aesthetic combines classic architecture with contemporary art and a curated collection of furnishings. Life in our village? Search the web for "Artists in Fontecchio"! The space The Artist Studio Apartment consists of two rooms, a kitchen and bedroom, both with classic vaulted ceilings. The kitchen is small-medium, but comes with all basic amenities. The heating system is new, and the kitchen and bedroom each have their own heating unit that can be turned on or off independently. (note: there is no door separating the kitchen and bedroom). The studio apartment opens onto a spacious courtyard that is shared by the other apartments. If weather permits, you're welcome to have your meals and morning coffee in the courtyard. It's a wonderful place to relax and, if you're lucky, you might hear the faint melodies of Fabrizio practicing Japanese flute. You will also likely meet our cat Blu, and our dog, Mr. Bugsy (whose house is outside the main entrance). Both are gentle and full of sweetness. Guest access Entrance to the apartment is found within the interior courtyard, which is accessed through the main arched entrance with the big wooden doors (seen in the photos). Self check-in is accessed by using the security key box outside the main doors. You will have a key to the main doors as well as a key to your apartment (instructions for this are included in the welcome email for guests). In addition to the apartment, you are free to use the interior courtyard to enjoy meals when weather permits. Other things to note Some Extras: We have a single mattress available should there be need for an additional guest. Both Todd and Fabrizio speak Italian and English (Todd also speaks Spanish). JAPANESE FLUTE: Fabrizio, who lives in another part of the palazzo is a musician and student of Japanese flute. Should you be interested in an intimate private concert, let us know! TANGO: Todd has danced tango for over 25 years and taught professionally in San Francisco for a number of years. However, he is only in Fontecchio part-time, but if he's there then there's a good possibility to arrange private lessons with him. ARTWORK: Should you be interested in purchasing artwork, please let us know. Many of the works in the apartment are for sale and there is an art studio/exhibition space on the lower level of the Palazzo. (You can view works online, just google Todd Thomas Brown Artist). ARTISTS IN FONTECCHIO: If you are interested in visiting the studio of other artists in Fontecchio, let us know and we can likely arrange a visit. Registration Details IT066043C2LLVFFDHU
