Le Grau du Roi Port Camargue born between sand and water. A pond of marine origin is formed, also receiving fresh water from the interior. Over time, a passage is created connecting the sea and the pond = a Grau (passage in Occitan). Le Grau du Roi was born out of this opening, which began in the 13th century.
