The space The Cottage Designed for time together without feeling on top of one another, the cottage is a welcoming, flexible space that works equally well for family holidays, multi-generational stays, and groups of friends gathering to relax and reconnect. Living & Social Spaces At the heart of the cottage is a generous main living room, filled with natural light from large windows and centred around a wood-burning stove — a favourite spot for relaxed evenings after days out exploring Devon. Comfortable seating and a Smart TV make this an easy place for everyone to come together. A second private sitting room offers additional flexibility. This space includes a full-size double sofa bed with a proper mattress, making it ideal for teenagers, grandparents, or couples who appreciate a little more separation. It also houses a much-loved retro arcade machine, a real highlight for guests of all ages. Guest access Outdoor Spaces Guests have access to the private garden area and the ten acres surrounding the cottage, including outdoor seating and space to relax and enjoy the countryside. The 7-seater outdoor hot tub, positioned beside an ancient oak tree, is for the exclusive use of cottage guests and enjoys wide views across Exmoor. Fields & Surroundings Beyond the private garden, guests are welcome to enjoy walks around the surrounding fields, which form part of the wider rural setting. These are working fields and are home to sheep. If bringing dogs, we kindly ask that they are kept under close control at all times in the fields and around livestock. Children’s Play Areas Children are welcome to enjoy the large trampoline and treehouse within the grounds. These areas are used at guests’ own discretion, and children should be supervised by adults at all times. Electric Vehicle Charging An EV charging point is available for guest use. Please follow the provided instructions and notify us if you plan to use it during your stay. Privacy & Hosts While we live in the nearby main house, the cottage, garden, hot tub, and guest facilities are entirely private to you during your stay. We respect your space and privacy at all times, while remaining nearby should you need assistance. Other things to note Historical Significance: Our property holds a musical touchstone, once owned by the band Hawkwind, who even hosted a festival in these fields. Delve into a piece of rock history during your stay. Pet Policy: While we welcome up to two dogs, we kindly ask guests to ensure they don't chase the resident sheep or disturb other wildlife or venture upstairs or onto furniture. Please consider other guests by cleaning up after your pets. Neighbouring Residence: We reside in the main house next door. While we're close enough to assist should you need anything, rest assured your privacy and comfort are paramount to us. Location: We're situated approximately 1.5 miles from the charming village of High Bickington and right next to a picturesque golf course. It's an ideal base to explore both local sights and those further afield in Devon.
