The Shady V Ranch cabin is located 2 miles east of Castell on about 100 acres. Breathe the fresh, clean, crisp air. Now get ready to enjoy some fun time "UNPLUGGED". Cell service is limited and there is NO wifi provided on the property. This ranch has been in my family for over 100 years. My Grandfather (Henry Hasse) first bought the land in the early 1900's. We are excited to be able to share part of the Texas Hill Country and the beautiful Llano River. We hope you enjoy your stay! The space The cabin is well-appointed and has comfortable amenities. There are 2 bedrooms that sleep 5 comfortably. The 1st bed room has barn doors.(made from material used in the original cabin) that lead to a queen size bed. The second bedroom has an antique full size bed and a single bed. All pillows have AllerEase protection covers and all beds have 100% cotton sheets. The bathroom has a tile shower. The kitchen has all new appliances. The dining area has a table with 5 chairs. The den has a cozy leather sofa and a wooden rocking chair. There is a TV and Blue Ray DVD player for playing your favorite DVDs. Just down the hill from the cabin, you will find over 1/3 of a mile of private Llano River frontage. The river is spring-fed and mostly slow-moving so it is great for any number of river activities from fishing to panning for gold to just relaxing in the water. There is a park-like area at the river where you can enjoy a picnic, a swing, playing frisbee or flying a kite. When not at the river, you can take hikes or just relax and enjoy the fire pit or one of the porches. In the evening, enjoy the many, many stars of the Texas Sky. We often hear "I have never seen so many stars". Have a glass of wine, a beer, or a cola around the fire pit and watch the fire flies dance in the night sky, or go back inside for some family games or to watch a favorite DVD. We have provided some of our favorite or you can bring your own. Guest access With almost 100 acres to explore, put on your shoes and start your outside adventure. Walk quietly to spot any of the abundant wildlife, bring binoculars to enjoy some bird watching, explore the variety of rocks, identify the many different tress and in the spring be amazed at the many different wild flowers you can see and photograph up close. OR Go down to the river and enjoy over 1/3 mile of private Llano River frontage. You most likely will not see or hear anyone else. Try your hand at fly fishing for trout released into the River each year, or for a bigger catfish that might be hungry enough to nibble on your hook. Practice your technique skipping rocks across the water or just listen to the water as it flows down toward Llano and the Highland Lakes. Other things to note The cabin has stained concrete floors, so pack your favorite cozy slippers. There is no garage disposal so do not put food scraps down the drain. We are on a septic tank so please only flush toilet paper.
