Tranquil Retreat in the hills
You won’t want to leave this charming, one-of-a-kind place. The tranquil splendour and breathtaking views are the main attractions at Matopo Ingwe Lodge. The Matopo Hills are a scenic area of granite whalebacks and castle kopjes, combining ancient and recent history with abundant wildlife and scenic views to offer you a relaxing getaway from city life. The hills also hold numerous rock paintings that depict animal and human figures that date back to the Early Stone Age. The Lodge lies 30 kms from Bulawayo, known as the "City of Kings". Matopo Ingwe Lodge is built in the midst of a beautiful valley with the main complex set atop a flat hill, giving a breathtaking view of the landscape. Please do not use GPS as it uses an non operative road. Below are the instructions to get to the lodge from the main road. From Bulawayo, drive south along Matopo Road, a two-lane tarred road, for 35 kms. Turn left at Aboretum Road, there is a signpost with signs to follow. Travel approximately 1 km and turn right onto Leopard Run Rd (near the Matopo Police Station). Follow signs onto a dirt road and drive for approximately 6 kms to reach Matopo Ingwe Lodge.
