Large family house w/ direct beach access

A peaceful sanctuary with a white sand beach & swimming jetty at the end of the garden. A short walk or bike ride from the quintessentially Gotlandic village of Katthammarsvik, with its smokery, beach, bakery truck and shop, you can happily spend weeks here without ever driving anywhere. This stylish yet unpretentious beach house is the perfect base for an old-fashioned family beach holiday in the summer, or to gather friends and family around the cosy fireplaces in autumn and winter. The space The main house has 2 twin rooms, 1 open plan double bed with a sea view & a single on the cosy landing over-looking the kitchen (perfect for keeping an ear out for sleeping children). There's a lovely sunny conservatory for dining in on colder days, a bright & cosy kitchen, comfortable sitting room, all with with views to the sea except the 2 twin rooms. The bathroom has a cast iron bathtub (also a shower & toilet) for soaking heat back into the bones after a spring/autumn dip in the sea. The smaller cabin has 2 singles & a cupboard. The studio has a bunk bed & loft double with a single room with it's own door...perfect for a kids/teens dormitory. There's an outdoor loo for the cabin & studio with a bathroom in the pipeline for 2024/5. In July/August there are very good, raspberries, red & black currants & gooseberries growing in our adjacent field which you’re welcome to help yourselves to…. There's a cute little playhouse for small children and a hangar/garage full of around 6 adult/teenage bicycles & a longboard skateboard (try going from Tempo with a strong dog on a lead….’the Kattvik Kanonball’!) that are included with the rental fee & the best way to get around. There's also a shed with some fishing gear & tools & a SUP. Guest access Everything. Mi casa es su casa during your stay. Treat the place like your home (unless you're a lunatic), but bear in mind our neighbours also use the beach and jetty. Please respect their space if you spot them going for a nude dip ;) Other things to note Good bicycles in the garage for fun travel, also a SUP on the beach under the tree next to our sail/row boat which will be launched next summer (2024) after repairs. Please repair any punctures yourself or drop off for repairs at the local bike repair place. Please take care of the SUP as it’s inflatable (paddle & pump in shed beside utedass)…. Please check with me if you should leave it out & inflated or deflate & return to the shed before leaving . There is abundant fruit in the garden/field adjacent during July & August. Vike was built by ’Sparris (asparagus) Nisse’ & was well known for the quality of it’s ’pick your own’ raspberries, goose berries , aronia, black currents, salmbär (dewberry), asparagus & potatoes. Having bought Vike in 2022, we’re in the process of returning the fruit & veg to its former health after some years of neglect. In the meantime, help yourself & maybe pick extra for the freezer if you’re staying at a peak time of ripeness….?
