Located in the heart of Purse Caundle village, The Old Rectory is a 17th century stone house with the guest wing added in 1992. A traditional cider barn selling food, drinks & tiny farm shop is a 2 minute walk. Cycle routes & walks from the door and great pubs & restaurants within a 10 minute drive. Jurassic coast 45 mins away. You have use of our orchard (which has a stream running through most of the year) with seating, BBQ and log burner. Lounge has Sky TV, Netflix, HD Sky sports & Disney+ The space The Guest accommodation is a wing of The Old Rectory - You have your own private entrance door which is accessed from an entrance lobby. This is an ideal retreat for those seeking a getaway in the countryside and is a great touring base for the many attractions nearby. We are only 4 miles from Sherborne with its impressive Abbey and fantastic selection of independent shops. We are a short drive from historic local towns of interest such as Bruton, Castle Cary & Shaftesbury. A little further and you can visit Bath, Frome, Wells, Salisbury, Cheddar Gorge, Stonehenge and the stunning Jurassic Coast is only 45 minutes away. The guest accommodation has been fully renovated to a high standard and facilities include; Wi-Fi with fibre broadband, Smart TV with Netflix, Disney +, Sky Ultimate package, Sky Sports with HD, iplayer, Catch-up TV and a Wireless Bluetooth speaker The accommodation is for a maximum of 4 people, and only registered guests are allowed in the property and the paddock/outside space. The Living Space is open plan downstairs and includes: * Your private entrance door off an entrance lobby * Cosy Sitting Room - furnished with 2 x two seater sofas, coffee table, TV and DVD player with large selection of films. Wii games console with a selection of games and controllers. Under stairs cupboard with storage and plenty of adult & Children's games, books & puzzles. There is an obscured window, which does not open, that joins on to the main house * The well equipped Kitchen includes - gas hob, double electric oven, microwave, full size fridge/freezer, Dualit toaster, cast iron shallow casserole dish, coffee cafetiere, dishwasher. There is a dining area with table and 4 chairs in the kitchen. You can have use of an iron and ironing board if needed. Please help yourself to the herbs outside your door if you need any when cooking your delicious meals * Bedroom 1 - with king-size bed, Full sized wardrobe with plenty of drawers, under bed storage, dressing table, occasional chair, Black out blinds, fluffy towels and soft bed linen * Bedroom 2 - Cosy room with double bed (the access around the sides of the bed is narrow - but the bed is lovely and thick with beautiful soft bed linen), black out blinds, wardrobe, drawers & occasional chair * Shower room with walk in shower, basin with storage, Towel rail, WC. Toiletries are provided - soaps, shampoo, conditioner and shower wash. Towels are included. * Central heating throughout property - operated by thermostatic valves on each radiator and x1 thermostat control on the landing * Travel cot and highchair available on request * Apologies but we are unable to offer hybrid or electric vehicle charging. There are several charging points locally and in most car parks in Sherborne. * We have a paddock/orchard, for your use, which is separated from our garden by a stream and x2 bridges. Access to the paddock is along the quiet village road and through the double wooden gates. (Access is not through our garden)There is a log burner, BBQ, picnic bench. We provide one bag of wood for the burner - further bags available at an extra cost of £5 per bag Guest access Check-in is after 4pm and Check-out is by 11am The door will be unlocked and the keys will be on the kitchen table. If you would like me to meet you and show you around i am more than happy to welcome you. There is a driveway next to your accommodation which you can use to unload your vehicle and please park in front of the log store. If you have a second car, we have an additional space in the entrance to our paddock, in front of the double gates. Other things to note Doing our bit for the Environment - We have 13 solar panels providing energy during the day, all cleaning & washing products do not harm the environment, all bathroom products are natural, vegan and not tested on animals. We have food recycling (home compost) and separate bins for all recycling. All bulbs are low energy LED. All radiators have thermostatic controls The property is on the village road, which although quiet, children should be supervised when outside. Also, when you are accessing the paddock - you will be walking along the village road and through the double gates (Access is not through our garden) Please be careful of the cars/farm vehicles when walking as there is no footpath. Children also need to be supervised at all times when there is water in the paddock stream as it can be fast flowing after rainfall - in wet weather the bridges over the stream can be very slippery, so please be careful.
