Description
Welcome to The Old College Gate Lodge. A listed house with special architectural and historic interest designed by a renowned architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott who also created Tate Modern, Battersea Power Station, the iconic Red Telephone Box, etc. It is a quaint, distinctive, and cottage-style home in a tranquil, pleasant, and green neighbourhood of Putney not far from Central London. - 10 mins walk to East Putney Station (Zone 2) - Free gym and library - Near Wimbledon Tennis Court The space - The house feels cottagey and cosy. The dining area is designed to look and feel like you're in a pub with bench seating on one side. - The second bedroom can be a work space with its comfortable office chair and desk. Otherwise the sofa is a bed sofa so it can be converted into a second bedroom. - Storage for the second bedroom/office is half of the black wardrobe on the stairway landing. We usually leave the right side of the wardrobe empty for guest storage, the top smaller bit is locked but still plenty of space for storage. - Plenty of great restaurants, cafes, pubs, shops, groceries and some bars in Putney, Southfields and Wandsworth area. - Tons of takeaway food to choose from. - River Thames/Putney Bridge is a 25 min walk. There are few pubs, restaurants and cafes by the river. Lovely place to sit on the benches or to walk around. - Beautiful Parks nearby such as Richmond Park, Wimbledon Common, Putney Heath etc. - Zone 2 East Putney Tube station is 10 mins walk. Putney Train station is 17 mins walk. - Wimbledon Lawn Tennis is 1.5 miles away. Less than 30 mins walk or 18 mins by bus. Guest access - The house is part of a sought after Whitelands Estate Park. As it used to be the old Whitelands College, the area has very interesting old buildings and chapel/church you can explore from the outside. - There is a lot of greenery and grass around the area to sit on when it's sunny. - There is a play ground for kids. - We have our own pub bench table just outside the house, south facing so plenty of sun when it's sunny. - Free allocated parking on the premises. - Free access to the gym and library.
