Description
Brian and Jessie welcome you to Acorn Cottage! This quaint 1910 cottage in a quiet neighborhood is a 4 minute walk to downtown Stevenson’s restaurants, shopping and breweries, and a 6 minute walk to the shore of the Columbia River. Located on a quiet street in Stevenson’s oldest neighborhood, Acorn Cottage offers guests a peaceful respite and the opportunity to ‘hide in plain sight’ in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge. The space Acorn Cottage is a simple yet comfortable house, perfect for a romantic getaway, solo retreat, or a small group of close friends. Though the property is not well suited for small children, it offers a peaceful space for parents to recharge. You'll find a cozy living room, a small but fully equipped kitchen, a coverd BBQ area, and a very private backyard with a fire pit. There's a queen bed in the bedroom, and a twin xl daybed that extends into a comfortable king in the common space adjacent to the living room, with privacy curtains to divide the spaces, as well as a small bathroom with a stall shower. This home was previously owned by our long time friend who developed and curated this charming cottage under a giant white oak tree into his place of peace, tranquility and privacy; traits we have tried to maintain as we have prepared this space. Relax by the fire pit, enjoy your morning coffee from a rocking chair on our rustic sitting porch, lounge in the hammock with a peekaboo mountain view, or just take in the lush vegetation from the Zen bench. Though you may hear the passing trains and the occasional tink-tink-tink of the falling acorns, you’ll be hard pressed to find a more private and peaceful resting place so close to Stevenson’s small town amenities. The central location also makes this house a convenient starting point for all the Gorge has to offer. Some notes on our cleaning process: Between each guest stay we launder ALL bed and bath linens with unscented detergent. All surfaces are cleaned and sanitized, including high touch areas. Floors are always swept/vacuumed and mopped between guests. Rugs, upholstery, throw pillows and curtains are laundered periodically as needed, and are treated with an antimicrobial fabric spray between guests. We strive to ceate a clean, safe, and peaceful environment for all of our valued guests. Guest access The entire home and yard are yours to enjoy with the following exceptions: The space between the South side of the house and the fence is a no guest access area; the garage is not available for guest access at this time, though guests are encouraged to park off street in front of the garage. Other things to note Depending on the season, acorns may fall from the giant white oak out front during your stay. In warm weather, we may need to come water the garden during your stay. If so, we will coordinate a time that works for you. The use of candles and open flame are prohibited on our property, aside from the propane BBQ and fire pit provided for your enjoyment. We want to do our part to protect nature, and our community from wildfires. If you choose to enjoy the peekaboo mountain view from the hammock, be aware it’s under a beautiful black walnut tree, and walnuts may fall. We occasionally experience short power outages, mostly in the winter. But, our local utility workers repair it quickly! Please note the heat in the cottage still functions without power. Your host has severe asthmatic allergies, therfore, out of regard for her health, we ask that you respect our no animals/no smoking policies. Thank you for your understanding.
