Description
Elegant and private first floor room in a private house full of natural light and a lovely garden plus communal landscaped area. Plenty of free amenities including visitor parking and private toilet. The railway station is only 2 minutes away. Excellent access to *Town Centre: 5 min walk. From there you can follow the waterways to the countryside easily. I can let you use my bicycle to get around town. *Racecourse: 20min walk *Paddington: 40min train *Reading: 20min train *Vodafone: 20min bus The space This accommodation has some quirk and charm that I really like. It is one of the terraced houses built in the rear curtilage of a bigger early 20th century building. It is hidden from the street front and therefore very quiet and private. There is a semi-public communal landscaped area with a retro atmosphere that is well lit and regularly maintained. The house is smoke free, pet free and its humidity is regulated by a dehumidifier during colder months. I try to run the dehumidifier when guests are not present to keep noise at minimum levels. Your room is on the first floor. There is a work desk with an office chair and the room is really quiet and cozy for your work purpose or just relaxation. The 32" bedroom HDTV with Firestick has access to popular apps such as Netflix or Prime Video. Other room amenities include broadband wifi, water, tissues, and hair dryer (in box). I hope you appreciate the poster I specifically designed for the room, too! Guest access You have the ground floor toilet near the kitchen to yourself. I reserve the main bathroom on the first floor for my own use to avoid space conflict but you're welcome to use the shower, including shampoo and shower gel. You are free to use the kitchen to prepare your own meals and store your food/ingredients in my fridge/freezer. I also have a microwave/rice cooker/air fryer, just ask where things are. I'll provide cooking utensils and seasonings. For main ingredients Sainsbury's or local groceries are 10 minute walk away. You can eat at the compact dining table near the kitchen or make yourself comfortable in the garden or front patio. Please clean up soon after use and please don't bring food or drinks to your room. I've prepared water and a glass in your room. You are welcome to use the washer/dryer/dish washer/ironer/steamer with no extra costs. In case you arrive on a bicycle, it's safe to lock it to a post in the front patio or you can take it to the rear garden. If you love reading or simply want a quiet contemplative corner, feel free to grab one of my books and enjoy it at the sofa in the living room. I have a small collection of boardgames and subject to availability I can play with you. Sometimes I go to a boardgame gathering in town, feel free to tag along. During your stay I work from home several days a week. I try to greet my guests in person and brief them the accommodation on arrival. In rare cases when I'm not home, self check-in is possible using the lock box and I'll message you the details. The same goes with check-out, I'll try to see you off in person when I can. During your stay you'll likely see my presence around the house. I have a 9-5 job and I'll work in my bedroom. Aside from the online meeting time, please feel free to ask questions anytime. I can let you go about your own business or we can have more interactions depending on what you like. Other things to note Please note the bed size is small double with a 4ft/1.2m width. There is a surcharge from the second guest so please select the precise number of guests. Please leave your shoes in the shoe box and use the slippers provided. Please use the induction stove instead of the electric one. I won't change the fitted sheet, pillow cases and duvet cover unless you stay for more than 7 days. You can use the shower gel and shampoo that I have. I tend to go for fragrance free products and if you have specific products that you want to use, please bring your own.
