Perfect for a solo getaway or couple’s retreat, this charming Cornish cottage is tucked away about half a mile from the centre of the ancient town of Marazion, and minutes from its golden sandy beach. It’s an ideal year-round destination, with a sweet courtyard for enjoying alfresco meals and a warming wood burner for chilly evenings. The space This quaint terraced property is set over two storeys and boasts some lovely original features, including a stone inglenook, exposed beams and deeply set sash windows with window seats. Old meets new comfortably here, with a lounge/diner on the ground floor that has elegant velvet seating around a multi-fuel burner and a Smart TV, plus a dining table for two. Opening off the living space is the kitchen, modest in size but well designed, and boasting a Lavazza machine for that all-important morning coffee. Upstairs, the king-size bedroom has delightful furnishings, and there’s a bright bathroom with a shower over the bath. Enjoy the fresh air, or an alfresco drink or meal, in the small courtyard accessed via the kitchen or side passage. The coastal town of Marazion has an intriguing variety of independent shops and galleries to explore, as well as pubs, cafes and restaurants. It’s best known, however, as the embarking point for a visit to the iconic St Michael’s Mount, a castle on a small island at the end of a stone causeway (or a boat if you go at high tide). The excellent beach is safe for swimming and also offers a range of water sports, and if you’re feeling active you could hire a bike and cycle to Penzance (3.5 miles) or Mousehole (7 miles). The surrounding countryside is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is full of charming villages, ancient standing stones and mining heritage sites.
