Central & Quaint Island House

Welcome to the Blow Toad, a quaint island cottage in Tangier's historical core. It is conveniently located between the port and the beach, both less than 10 minutes' walk away. All Tangier's shops and restaurants can be reached in 2-10 minutes' walk. The Blow Toad features 3 spacious bedrooms, including one that doubles as a sun room overlooking the Tangier wildlife refuge. Our house is newly renovated in 2024, with new A/C systems, modern amenities, and a sustainable wood pathway outside. The space In addition to 3 bedrooms, we have a living room and a full-sized kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, espresso maker, pots and pans, teapot, cutlery, glasses, dishes, bowls, etc. The kitchen is stocked with coffee, tea, oil, salt, sugar, pepper, vinegar, mayo, mustard, and ketchup. In 2024, we installed brand-new A/C (heat pump) systems throughout the house, including one unit in the living room and two in bedrooms. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house. Other things to note Tangier can be reached by ferries 365 days a year except on days with inclement weather. Note however, Tangier is a car-free island (modulo residents). You have to leave your car at one of the ferry ports and take a ferry to reach us. ******FERRIES****** Between May and October, Tangier can be more easily reached through ferries from 3 ports: Crisfield (MD), Reedville (VA), and Onocock (VA). On busy days (such as most Fridays or Saturdays), there are 4-5 boats arriving at (and leaving) Tangier. On other days, at least 1-2 ferries run every day unless inclement weather. Outside the peak season, Tangier can be reached daily through 1-3 ferries, from Crisfield or Onocock. Among the 3 ports, Crisfield has the most reliable connection throughout the year. Once you have determined the port you plan to travel to/from, search on Internet for "tangier ferry X" where X is the name of the port. It is best to give the ferry company a call to confirm on the time schedule. ******PARKING****** You can leave your car at any of the 3 ports for a very reasonable cost, or free, depending on the port. The best source to ask about parking is the ferry companies. ******PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION****** You can also organize your private transportation with Tangier captains. While more costly, it may be helpful if you need a more flexible schedule than what ferries can offer. Contact me and I will share their information. For boat/yacht owners, Tangier has its own Tangier Island Marina that can moor your boat. The walk from the marina to the house is about 10 minutes.
